Year -1/2 Unit

Welcome back to Term 3!

Year 1/2 have had a terrific start to the term. Students jumped into ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Repurpose’ with enthusiasm bringing their own prior knowledge while learning lots of new facts to build on their understanding about trash and what we can do with it. Next Monday a local council representative will visit our classes to discuss the four bin system and waste reduction and minimisation. You may already be having some interesting conversations about trash at home with your child/children and family.

Students have explored multiplication in maths lessons and used language like ‘groups of’, ‘lots of’, ‘times’ and ‘multiplication’. They used materials such as counters and unfix, as well as drawings, to show problems and skip counted to find the total.

In reading and writing students have explored Information texts and began to write their own about recycling.

We are looking forward to learning further about ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Repurpose’ across the term.
