Indigenous Garden Project
A major project has been underway in both Term 3 and 4 this year in our Indigenous Garden. The poles have been showing signs of wear and general degradation. An opportunity arose for Koorie students and their mates to have a real impact on the garden by replacing most of the poles.
Young leaders have emerged and generally driven the project. The idea of including their mates in this wonderful garden upgrade came from them and was supported by the Koorie Education Support Officers Simone and Paul. The work hasn’t been easy and in conjunction with Applied Learning Leader Maddie Haulstead, various crews have finally removed all but one pole from the garden. That pole carries a special message and was deemed sufficiently adequate to be restored and survive another decade or two.
Using the Applied Learning shed and the P-6 Art Room, new poles are being prepared, painted and made ready for their final place in the garden. Thanks to our Primary Art teacher Claudia Moore for her input and all the secondary students who have been involved in this great project.
Many thanks,
