$400 School Saving bonus - Parent Actions

Getting Ready!

In Term 4, 2024, families with a child enrolled in a government school from Prep to Year 12 in 2025 will receive the one-off $400 School Saving Bonus.

The $400 School Saving Bonus provides families with support for education-related costs, such as school activities and/or school uniforms and textbooks.

The School Saving Bonus is not available for full-fee international students, home schooled students, TAFE students and students attending kindergarten in 2025. 

By mid November, Parents will receive an email confirmation from the Department of Education in readiness for the online email with SSB Vouchers in late November.

The School Saving Bonus provides a one-off $400 to help Victorian families cover the costs of their kids’ school uniforms, textbooks, excursions and activities. You are receiving this email because you are the primary contact of a child enrolled in a Victorian Government school in 2025 and will receive the $400 School Saving Bonus. From late November 2024, you will receive an email from the Department of Education with a link to an online system, where you can access the $400 bonus. You will get a separate email for each child enrolled in a government school. The $400 School Saving Bonus is available for each child. That means a family with 3 school-aged children will receive a total of $1,200. If this is not your preferred email address and/or your mobile number has changed, please contact your school to update your details by 15 November 2024.

Actions for parents and carers

• Be on the look out for an email confirmation notification from the Department of Education.  This should arrive by mid November at the latest.  
• In late November, families will receive an email with a unique code and instructions for accessing the School Savings Bonus portal.
