Saint Francis Xavier - Principal's Report

Term 4 - Week 3

Dear Parents and Friends of St Francis Xavier,

It has been a really busy start to the term at S.F.X. Last week, the Grade 5/6 students had a fantastic day at the Lightning Premiership, which was held at John Paul College. This week, our Grade 3/4 students made the most of the sunshine on Tuesday, heading to Federation Square in the city and spending the day at ACMI. Yesterday, our Prep/1/2 students spent the day at the Cranbourne Botanical Gardens.

The coming weeks are just as busy, so please make sure you pop all the key dates in your diary and keep checking emails for any Operoo forms that have been sent out.

Our Prep Class for 2025

The next month is a very important time at S.F.X., as it is the period when we begin welcoming our 2025 Prep students and their families into our school community. On Tuesday night, we held our Prep Information Evening for both new and existing families. Our Prep teacher for 2025 will once again be Ms. Melanie Paton. Next Tuesday morning marks the first of four Prep Orientation sessions, which will run through to the end of November. Our current students are always eager to see the new faces joining our school and do everything they can to welcome them into our community.

Whole School Mass - Saturday 16th November

A flyer was recently sent home with all students, letting you know that we are holding a special Family Mass on Saturday, 16th November, at 6:00 p.m. to celebrate our school community. Immediately after Mass, families are invited to share supper in the Xavier Centre. All S.F.X. families are welcome, and we hope to see as many of you as possible in attendance.

World Teachers Day - Friday 25th October

I would like to alert all parents and carers that tomorrow is World Teacher's Day. On this day, teachers are acknowledged and celebrated across the world.

We are so fortunate to have the most amazing team of teaching staff at S.F.X, who all work so diligently to ensure that all students are encouraged, supported, and experience success. If you would like to acknowledge your child's teacher, please feel free to send them an email or a card.

Grade 3-6 Water Safety Day at PARC

On Wednesday 6th November, the Grade 3-6 students will be walking to PARC for their annual Water Safety/Water Fun day. Nearly all families have given permission for your child to attend, however PARC are still waiting for the online swimming ability forms of over 20 students to be completed. If you are yet to do so, please use the link below and make sure the form is completed by Friday 25th October.

Baby News

I have some very exciting news to share with everyone. Our wonderful Grade 5/6 teacher Ms Georgia and her husband Dan are expecting their third child early in 2025! Ms Georgia will finish the year in Grade 5/6 and then commence her Maternity Leave from the start of next year.

Upcoming School Closure Day

Just a reminder that Monday 4th November is a school closure day at S.F.X. The following day, Tuesday 5th November, is the Melbourne Cup Public Holiday. Students will return to school on the Wednesday.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
