What a Busy Week!

Well last week certainly was a busy one! With camps, excursions, transition mornings, and planned sports days, there were things happening everywhere. A huge thank you to everyone for your flexibility and organisation. We made it through with flying colours and many celebrations were had!

This week should be much more settled in terms of classroom routines back at Scotsburn. We look forward to getting back into Family Groups this Friday, as well as enjoying some warm sunshine! Well done everyone for remembering your hats each and every day. Can you believe we are nearly at the end of October??!!

Grade 5/6 Hall Gap Camp

Last week, our 5/6 students joined the Buninyong QUAD 5/6s on the Halls Gap camp. We lucked out with the weather and enjoyed a wonderful three days, full of teamwork, resilience, initiative and problem solving. Some of the highlights for our students included the high ropes course, the hike and archery. Thanks to Amanda Eustice for volunteering her time on the trip. Everyone had a brilliant time!

Grade 5/6 Sovereign Hill Experience

To conclude our busy week last week, our 5/6 students visited Sovereign Hill on Thursday and Friday. The excursion was an immersive experience, where students had the opportunity to play the role of a school student in the 1850s on the goldfields. It was so exciting for students to be part of a living museum and gain an understanding of how life was at that time. All of the Scotsburn 5/6 students fully immersed themselves in the experience, with Will even receiving the medallion for demonstrating fantastic respect and work ethic. Well done Will!

Kinder Transition Program

Our kinder will continue this Friday, with our new 2025 Prep students settling in beautifully well. This program is a vital part of a successful transition into primary school, and we look forward to our final few mornings over the next two weeks, before our orientation day later in the term.

Home Reading

Our reading goal for this term has been reset and we are aiming for all students to complete 35 nights of reading in Term four. We reset the goal and decided on a target of 35 nights of reading for the term instead of adding to our previous target. This way we hope to ensure that everyone has the same opportunity to reach the goal and be successful.

P-2 Sports Day - Postponed

With our Prep to grade two Sports Day postponed last Friday due to inclement weather, we now look forward to a new date being set later in the term. Keep an eye out on Compass and in the newsletter for the new date.

Enrolments for 2025

If you have a child or know of someone who has a child to enrol in Prep for 2025 at the Scotsburn Campus, please see Ana for an enrolment form, go to the office at Buninyong or access an enrolment form via our school website.

Breakfast Club

A reminder, that breakfast club is on in the Old Building, Thursday mornings between 8:30am and 8:55am. Parents are welcome to come along and if you are available to lend a hand setting up, assisting with serving breakfast and cleaning up, we would love your help. Please see the volunteering roster below to sign up.

Scotsburn Parent Volunteering Roster

Please see the link below for our new Term 4 Parent Volunteer Roster. We would love to get back into the swing of things with our parent volunteering routine, and with such a busy term ahead, all help would be appreciated. If you have any time available to help out, we would be very grateful!

SC1 Learning Snapshot

What a busy week we had last week! Although the Prep to grade two sports had to be postponed, the students in SC1 still had a super fun and active week.

We have continued to learn about the different states and territories of Australia, including famous landmarks, the state flags and floral emblems and lots of fun facts. If you have friends or family living or travelling interstate, we would love it if they could send us a postcard to go on our display board! Please address to the following:

In Maths we are learning about chance and probability. We explore the language of probability (certain, likely, possible, impossible) and how it relates to everyday life and chance events such as lucky dips.

The weather is heating up! Please make sure your child comes to school each day with a full drink bottle - these sit outside the classroom in a tub to reduce distractions and mess in the classroom. Have a wonderful week!

Thanks,

Ana and Hayley.

SC2 Learning Snapshot

With our week last week taken up completely by camp and Sovereign Hill, there wasn’t time for anything else! Our students certainly had an amazing week, full of fun and learning. Thank you everyone again for your organisation and communication. Hopefully we can all take a breath this week!

See you all during the week,

Jarrod and Liz

Scotsburn Intercampus Travel

At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day.

We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements.

If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher.
