Careers

Hello Parents/Guardians and Community Members,

I want to take this opportunity to Congratulate our Year 12 graduating class of 2024 on the completion of their HSC exams this past four weeks. This was the final step in their schooling journey, and I am sure they are all looking forward to the next chapter of their lives and taking a break after all the hard work and study they have put into their studies. Take time to enjoy this milestone and all your achievements over your entire school journey.

Please know that the careers office is still available for you all to come in and chat about Early Entry, Uni or Tertiary Courses and gain assistance with scholarship applications and employment applications as well as putting your portfolios together.

Year 10 Work Experience & Successful Seniors Week – NEXT WEEK (Week 5)

For the past term and a half, we have been planning and organising our Year 10 students on their options for the traditional week 5 work experience week. Our Year 10 students now have two options for the week 5 transition week:

  • Option 1 – Undertake work experience to secure employment, apprenticeships or traineeships. Interested students were provided with work experience packs and forms over the past 5 weeks. *Students need to be proactive and bring their forms in so I can contact the employers.
  • Option 2 – Students intending to stay at school and go on to study as senior students need to stay and undertake the newly developed program called ‘Successful Seniors Week’.

This second option we are implementing at Narrandera High School (adapted program from my previous school), to help guide and support our students as they navigate the change from junior school to senior school and senior study. This new program will run every year from now onwards and will incorporate:

  • Formal introduction to NESA requirements
  • The structure of the HSC
  • Senior Assessment requirements
  • All My Own Work (a compulsory program to education students on referencing, plagiarism and academic writing)
  • Youth Mental Health & Wellbeing – Guest Speaker
  • Beginning a career – Guest Speaker from Melbourne
  • Alumni Chat – About their varied careers and experiences
  • Excursion to Griffith (Friday 15th November) to Country Unis Centre & Ten Pin Bowling
  • Study Skills and Habits for Senior Students
  • STEM Activities, Problem Solving & Lateral Thinking challenges
  • Scavenger Hunt &Some fun team building activities

Any students or parents that have any questions, please contact the school for more information.
