Sports Gear for Cambodia

Earlier this week former JPPS teacher Andrew Farmer came back to our school with his students with a special appeal. Please see 'School News' for more detail, however I would encourage everyone to get behind this initiative.

Parent Opinion Survey completed

Thank you to everyone that completed the survey and the information that was passed on. As always there are a few areas to work on, but in general we are delighted that parents are happy and satisfied with the work we do with your children.

Please continue to to communicate with me if you have issues, ideas or recommendation on the things we can do better.

Photos & Recordings at School

Can I remind parents about the School and Department Policy on Photography/Filming/Recording of students in school:

  • Jells Park Primary School permits parents/carers, students and invited guests to photograph, film or record school performances, sporting events and other school-approved activities.
  • Jells Park Primary School requests that parents/carers, students and invited guests who photograph, film or record school activities only do so for their own personal use and do not publish, share or forward the images in any form, including on social media, without the prior consent of persons whose children also appear in the images.
  • Neither the school nor the department own or control any images of students taken by parents/carers, students or their invited guests at school activities.

Please be very careful with what you do with any images taken or your own, and other, children. There is a world of problems if this is handled poorly.

Jewellery at School

There seems to be a considerable increase in students wearing different types of jewellery and adornments at school. Can I please advise everyone of the school policy on this matter:

  • The wearing of jewellery, with the exception of watches and plain stud earrings, is not permitted, unless it is due to religious belief, ethnic or cultural background, student disability or a health condition.

There is clearly a safety issue with large earrings and necklaces when student play sport or run around the playground, as well as an unnecessary variation to the school uniform. I would ask parents to please attend to this and ensure their child is not wearing any additional jewellery to school.

Are you Leaving??

At this time of the year there are always some families that are looking at alternative schooling, working and living arrangements. For whatever reason, if you are leaving the school please let us know ASAP. We always have high interest from people wanting to enrol in our school, so the sooner we know of any departures the sooner we can offer spots for 2025.

Canteen

Recently there have been students bringing large quantities of money to school to spend at the canteen. I would like to take this opportunity to remind families there is a $5 limit on how much a student can spend at the canteen when making over the counter purchases. The canteen staff do their best to police this rule, any student who brings more than $5 is not allowed to spend it and is asked to take their money to the office for safe keeping until the end of the day. Students are also asked not to share money or food items purchased from the canteen. Please discuss this with your child to ensure they know the rules in place.

Have a wonderful weekend!
