Girls Volleyball

On Tuesday the 15 of October, the girls Volleyball team played division at The Maroondah Nets . We went up against 2 schools in our pool, Oakleigh Primary School and Glendal Primary School.

Our first game was against Glendal Primary School, the scores were very close. We lost the first match by one set but it was a good game.

During our break time we practiced a lot, and by the time the second game came, we felt more confident. The scores were really close in the 2nd game as well, after losing the first set, we weren’t ready to give up, then we came in and won the second and third set.

After winning we were overjoyed to have made it through to the semi finals.

We were up against Mount View Primary School this time. They were so good at volleyball, and we got the ball a couple of times and though the first set was really close, they really dominated the second set, meaning unfortunately we hadn’t made it to the finals.

We placed 3rd overall on the leaderboard and our team couldn’t be any happier as we all tried our absolute best.

Boys Volleyball

On the 15 of October 2024, the Jells Park Volleyball teams went to The Nets Sports Centre to participate in Division Volleyball.

In the boys pool there were 3 other teams, St Leonards, Oakleigh and Glendale.

The first team we played was Glendale. We won the first set by about ten points, but then we lost the second set by 5. We had to go into a third set and we had a devastating loss by about 3.

After each match we would get a 30min to 1 hour break in between. In the breaks we could train or play around. It was very fun. Coming into our second match, we were still as ready as the first match. We had good feelings and high hopes to win a game. When the match started, we were playing at our top potential, we were doing our best to win this game and it was working. In the first set we won by 12 points, and our hopes skyrocketed. The other team upped their game, but we still managed to take over and win the 2nd set. This means we won against Oakleigh Primary.

The third school we faced were St Leonards. Their team was massive. Ours had 8 people, but they had about 14. They were 100% the best team we had faced. So the match started and we could already see they were the dominant team, but we didn't give up. Their team destroyed us in the first set by 10, and the second didn't go as well as we wanted. So we ended up losing that match, but we could still had one more match left for 5th or 6th place.

That match was against Mount View Primary. We watched their team play before they played us and we studied their moves and then we were ready for the match. This match was our best match by far, working together and dominating the court. I could tell everyone enjoyed the game and was happy we came 5th.

We ended up coming 5th out of 8 teams which was a great result!

Thank you to the parent helpers who drove us and to those that supported us!

Division Athletics

On Wednesday, October 9, 73 students from Year 4, 5, and 6 participated in the Division Athletics Carnival at Bill Stewart Athletics Track, competing for a spot in the regional championships. They displayed their skills in running, jumping, and throwing, giving it their all for top positions against their competitors from schools like Mount Scopus, Mount View, and Good Shepherd.

Despite the challenges, our students demonstrated determination and resilience, each person trying to secure an opportunity to compete at the regional level on October 24th. While many gave their best efforts, only few advanced to the next stage of competition. Overall, it was a day filled with enjoyment for everyone involved. Even though not everyone progressed, everyone should take pride in their accomplishments.

A big thank you to all the parents and teachers who came and supported us and helped run the events.
