Dear Parents and Friends,
Two of our intrepid Year 4 students (Asher and Jess) have given us an idea about what we can dress up in for the Colour Run! They would like us to wear a crazy head band or a crazy hairstyle!
Please do not go out and buy anything expensive as it will be full of colour by the end of the fun run! Please do not put in hair colour in your hair. Thanks Asher and Jess for the great idea!
Children are more than welcome to wear a tutu as well! I think it is a great idea - so everyone lets get on board and wear something crazy in our hair.
Reminder - if you do not want to be sprayed with colour please wear a black t-shirt as this will indicate to the parents and staff that you do not want to be sprayed.
We are halfway to our $5,000 target - WOW thank you to all the children who have donated to the school. Did you know the current amount raised (on avg) is $88 per child. If every child was to raise $88 we would raise approximately $10k for the school.
All funds raised will help to brighten up our library and increase the space so the children can access the books easier.
Well......the best laid plans sometimes don't work out. Unfortunately we have had a lot of staff illness this week (five staff off today) so we had to flip and turn our whole school picnic. The children did enjoy a shared picnic lunch together, chatting with friends from different levels. It was great to see some parents and sibling join us for lunch as well.
We had a very special guest at our assembly Thursday afternoon. We were excited to welcome Rob from Parkdale Bendigo Bank who came to let us know we were successful in receiving a grant from Bendigo Bank! The grant was for $24,000 - how amazing is that. $20,000 will go towards our library refurbishment. I think I may have already spent the money Rob. We recently met with a library furniture company to quote on some fantastic new library furniture and bookshelves!
The remaining $4,000 will be spent on implementing a Cyber Safety program for 2025. This fabulous program starts in November with a Parent night run by Martin and Carley McGauran, from Inform and Empower. The program will then continue throughout the 2025 school year.
An amazing big thank you to Rob and Anna from Bendigo Bank!
On Thursday 21 November St Brigid’s is hosting a Digital Safety presentation. Martin and Carley McGauran from Inform and Empower will chat with parents and carers about all things digital, from the impacts of screen time to helping children manage social media. The session is engaging and relevant for all families with primary aged children. Next year we will run student sessions during school time that are year level appropriate and help students navigate a digital world. Please use this link to register your attendance.
Term 4 week 4 - Running club
Laps = 258
Km run = 12.9km
Double Km for term 4 = 25.8km
Total km = 629.3km
We are on the Hume Fwy/National Hwy in New South Wales in Oolong. We are 254 kilometers away from Sydney. We will have to run nearly 30kms a week to reach our destination. If we make it to Sydney by the end of Term - Icy poles for everyone. Come on St Brigid's we can do it!
Just a reminder to families that tomorrow is a School Closure Day. The staff will be onsite involved in a professional learning day. Monday is also a school closure day - scheduled time in lieu day and Tuesday is Melbourne Cup Day Public Holiday
Next week - Wednesday 6 November at 7:00pm is our next School Advisory Meeting before our AGM on Wednesday 27 November. I would like to thank my SAC team for the wonderful support they have given the school this year.
Still looking for Class Parent Reps for 2025 and a Social and Fundraising Team. Please let me know if you are interested.
We have once again offered our support to the Mentone RSL by selling Remembrance Day items on their behalf. There are poppies, badges, wristbands and pens ranging in price from $2.00 to $10.00. Our Arts and Culture Team will be on the playground before and after school until Remembrance Day.
Enjoy the sunshine and a long weekend. See you back at School on Wednesday.
With thanks
Wendy Sullivan
