At last Tuesday’s Primary Awards Assembly in the St Marcellin Centre, the Wind Ensemble made a confident debut for parents, students and staff. Performing Machu Picchu by Timothy Loest, the young musicians impressed with how well they are already playing together. Special thanks to their ensemble director, Dr Jamie Kennedy, for guiding such a strong and promising start to their year.

Interested singers in the college are invited to register as an individual for Pemulwuy! National Male Voice Festival this June/July School Holidays.
The Pemulwuy festival happens once every 3 years and are a way to encourage male singers in their love of singing in a group with their friends. We know that there are so many benefits to the development of boys in all aspects of their well-being. The festivals give us a chance to celebrate guys singing and to showcase their talents. This festival will run from 3 – 5 July, 2026 here in Brisbane. The festival brings together singers from across the country as both individuals and ensembles. Individual registrations form ensembles that rehearse together with our guest conductors across the three days, which culminates in a performance at the Finale Concert in the Concert Hall at QPAC on the Sunday afternoon.

This week marks the end of Term 1. The boys have thrown themselves into drama with fantastic enthusiasm and energy. This term we’ve focused on teamwork and movement. Along the way we’ve crossed the swamp of despair, escaped Skull Island, staged epic lightsaber battles, climbed mountains (avoiding the abominable snowman!), driven cars, and narrowly survived roller coasters. We’ve also created a mad scientist’s laboratory and explored stylised movement pieces.
A big part of Term 1 is learning how to work as a team. We’ve been focusing on sharing ideas, supporting each other, and making sure we communicate kindly and respectfully. (No blocking great ideas!) We wrapped up the term with some fun Easter "eggscapades."
