Working as a Team to Support Learning

Each new year signifies your child's progression to the next stage of their education and the continuation of your partnership with Kinross Wolaroi School.

In the early weeks of this year, the Learning Enhancement Team, under the leadership of Mrs Brooke Church, has collaborated with classroom teachers to assess students and engage in productive discussions with staff and parents. Kinross Wolaroi is committed to providing equitable and meaningful access to the curriculum for all students. By fostering motivation from multiple perspectives through collaborative teaching methods, our objective is to achieve positive outcomes for every student, including enhanced academic and social skills, greater self-esteem, and strengthened relationships within the community.

At Kinross Wolaroi, we implement differentiation within the curriculum. All teachers conduct thorough assessments to inform strategies that address individual needs. Differentiation is a deliberate process involving proactive planning, programming, and instructional design. It incorporates flexible groupings, modified learning, and assessment approaches that offer suitable challenges and actively engage students. Differentiated programming acknowledges the interconnected nature of teaching, learning, and assessment, thereby guiding future educational practices.

Junior School staff maintain monitoring and tracking of student progress by continuously analysing and discussing data in weekly collaborative meetings. This term, we focused on oral reading fluency, spelling, and early numeracy skills to help students build a solid foundation in both literacy and numeracy. The resulting data enables teachers to refine classroom instruction and enhance learning experiences.

Winter Sport and Uniforms

In readiness for the start of the winter sports season, it is important that all of our Sport Teams present on the field in the correct team uniform. Thank you to families who have already purchased uniforms according to the appropriate winter team sport uniform. Please contact Junior School Reception if you have any questions about your team sports uniform.

Easter Break Best Wishes

As the term comes to a close, I would like to wish all families and staff a well-deserved break. A time to change the routine and indulge in activities that may have been put on hold with the daily school run, sport, and the many activities our children engage in each and every day. We look forward to seeing everyone return in Term 2 on Tuesday, 21 April.

We are delighted to share the fantastic results of Lincoln’s recent progression to the NSW State Championships, held last weekend at the Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre.

As previously mentioned, Lincoln qualified to compete in both the High Jump and the 800m, representing an outstanding achievement in itself.

Competing against the top 20 high jumpers in NSW, Lincoln rose to the occasion, recording an impressive personal best of 1.27 metres to claim the silver medal. The final was packed with excitement, featuring lead changes, surprise clearances and pressure‑filled attempts that kept the crowd guessing right to the end.

In the 800m, while Lincoln wasn’t in medal contention, he demonstrated great determination and resilience, finishing with another personal best time of 2:38.46.

The NSW State Championships mark the conclusion of the Little Athletics pathway each year, making this a wonderful way for Lincoln to cap off a truly memorable season. Congratulations to Lincoln on his exceptional efforts and achievements—we are incredibly proud of him.

We also congratulate Emily McGreal, who competed at the Merriwa Interschools Sports Horse Association Competition on 5–6 March 2026.

Emily took part in both the gymkhana and showjumping events and thoroughly enjoyed the two days of competition. Her positive attitude and commitment were recognised when she was awarded the 11 Years Girls' Encouragement Award, a lovely acknowledgement of both her efforts and sportsmanship.

Well done to Emily on this wonderful achievement - we commend her enthusiasm and dedication.

At Kinross Wolaroi we value and strive for academic rigour. Students have a myriad of opportunities to engage in enriching learning experiences which in some instances the school provides or facilitates student access to them.
