Open Afternoon

The Department of Education has announced that Education Week will this year be from the 18th to 22nd May with the theme of Celebration of Cultures. We will be holding our Open Afternoon at Rangeview on Tuesday 19th May.

We will have classrooms open across the school from 2.45pm to 3.30pm for parents and carers to visit. This will include general classrooms and our specialist classrooms. We encourage you to attend to see some wonderful learning and activities in your child's classroom, then move to some specialist rooms to experience the fabulous learning happening in these programs. We will follow this with musical performances from 3.45pm to 4.45pm in the gym.

Prospective Foundation Families for 2026 can visit our Foundation classrooms from 4pm.

We hope to see you a Rangeview to experience a bit more about how we learn and grow!

Student Attitudes to School Survey AtoSS

Gallery Image

The AtoSS is a voluntary student survey offered by the Department of Education every year to students in Levels 4 to 12 to help schools and the department understand students' experiences of school. We will ask your child about their thoughts and feelings about their school, their learning, relationships with other students, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general. This year, the survey will be conducted at Rangeview from 11th May to 12th June.

The department will only use aggregated state-wide survey data to report on initiatives and this data may also be used in public discussions of issues about student engagement and wellbeing. An example of how survey data has been previously used includes reporting levels of student engagement in the Performance Summary in the Annual Report to the School Community. The department will not share any identifiable student data with any other party. Rangeview will only get reports about groups of students. Information about individual students and the student answers data file is not shared with schools. If there are low numbers of student answers to a question, the report will not show results for this question to protect the privacy of those students.

This survey is voluntary. If you do not want your child to do the survey, please opt out by emailing your school at rangeview.ps@education.vic.gov.au  before the survey starts on Monday 11th May. Student personal information will be shared with ORIMA Research to facilitate survey preparations prior to this opt out process. If you opt your child out of participating, then your school will ensure that your child is not provided with access to the survey. Student details will be deleted by ORIMA Research at the conclusion of the survey. If your school does not receive a “Refusal of Consent” email from you before the survey begins, we will assume that you agree for your child to take part in the 2025 Attitudes to School Survey. Please remember, as noted above, the survey is voluntary: even with your consent, your child can choose to skip questions or stop doing the survey at any time.

For more information about this survey, including the questions your child will be asked to answer, please visit the department’s survey information page. If you would like more information or have any concerns about the survey, please speak to your child’s teacher, or contact the department at school.surveys@education.vic.gov.au.

Riversdale Principal Conference

On Thursday and Friday of last week, Tania Balderston, Kate McLeod and I attended the Riversdale Principal Conference at Cape Schanck.

With a Keynote from Bronwyn Ryrie-Jones in Leading Responsive Schools, we were privileged to hear from Paige Williams on building a Rich School Culture, Gavin Wanganeen on supporting Indigenous Outcomes, and Paul Watkins on Leading an Anti-fragile Life.

We were grateful for the opportunity to network with our colleagues from schools across the Inner East, and I was proud to co-lead the conference with Deb Harman my co-chair who is Principal of Balwyn High School.

Level 6 Camp

On Monday this week our Level 6 cohort travelled to beautiful Camp Howqua to participate in a 3 night, 4 day adventure camp. Activities included archery, low and high ropes, giant waterslide, flying fox, mud run, and horseback riding.

The weather was incredibly kind to us and the students and staff had a fabulous time.

We extend thanks to the Level 6 teaching team who attended, Lisa Janes, Dave Torr, Samantha Carter and Chelsea Verrell, the ES Alex Campbell and Jono Sar, and the Principal Class - Tania Balderston and myself. We also extend a huge thanks to our parent volunteers - Byron Wilding, Simon Tuchinsky and Will Loh. We could not run the camp program we do without the generous support of our families.

Grade 6 Graduation Bunning BBQ

Our P&F committee together with Level 6 families, will be running a Bunnings BBQ this Sunday at Nunawading Bunnings. All proceeds will go towards making our Level 6 Graduation a huge success for our graduating students.

If you need some home / garden supplies why not pop down to Bunnings on Sunday and get a sausage.

Mother's Day Stall

Mother’s Day is next weekend giving us a special opportunity to show our Mums, Grandmothers, Aunties, and other special women in our lives how much we love them and appreciate what they do for us.

The Parents and Friends Committee are running the annual Mother’s Day Stall on Friday 8th May with little gifts for the students to select for their Mum/Special Person. All Gifts are $5 so don’t forget to send money along with your child on the day. The stall is a lovely opportunity for the students to independently shop for Mum, it is always wonderful to see what items capture each student and what they think Mum will like.

We look forward to seeing you all around the school at Rangeview!
