NEW UPDATED PARENTS' GUIDE (PREVIOUSLY PARENT HANDBOOK)

We’re pleased to let you know that our new Parents’ Guide is now available! This digital guide brings together key information for families. Whether you’re looking for details about absences, uniform requirements, student wellbeing services, or key policies, you’ll find it here. 

You will be able to access this guide through the tile on KIT. 

We will continue to update the Parents’ Guide throughout the year so it reflects the most current information, adding new details as they become available. We hope this resource makes it easier for you to find the information you need, when you need it.

GOVERNMENT MONEY AVAILABLE FOR HEALTH CARE CARD, PENSION CARD HOLDERS OR FOSTER CARERS

CSEF (CAMPS, SPORTS & EXCURSION FUNDING)

CSEF is government funding that is available to families to offset the costs of camps, sporting events and excursions which form part of your school fees. The applicant must be one of the following on the first student day of Term 1 (28 January 2026) or Term 2 (20 April 2026):

  • a parent or carer who is the beneficiary of a financially means-tested card

  • a student over 16 years who is considered a mature minor and holds a valid means tested concession card (such as a Youth Allowance Health Care Card

  • a parent or carer whose child is 16 or over and the beneficiary of a financially means tested card but are not considered a mature minor.

From 1 January 2026, the Government has increased the CSEF rates as follows:

  • $400 per year for eligible primary school students (previously $154)

  • $400 per year for eligible secondary school students (previously $256)

The School Savings Bonus was a one-time program for 2025 only and no longer applies for 2026.  More information can be found at the following link: https://www.vic.gov.au/camps-sports-and-excursions-fund

If you meet the stated criteria, please complete a CSEF Form and return it to the Finance Office as soon as possible.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUB ORDERS DUE BY FRIDAY 1ST MAY

You will have received Scholastic Book Club Issue 3 last week. The Book Club catalogue has a selection of books to buy for all ages. They span a wide range of reading levels and interests and many are inexpensive (some cost as little as $2). Please place your book club orders online at scholastic.com.au/LOOP or hand them to the friendly DC staff with your order form and the correct cash. Every book you order through Scholastic Book Club earns Rewards for the school, which enables us to buy more resources for your children to borrow from the DC Library.

CELEBRATE MUM WITH A BUFFET BREAKFAST AT TREETOPS CAFE

Start the Mother’s Day celebrations early with a beautiful buffet breakfast in the school restaurant on Friday 8th May.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community and honour the incredible women in our lives before the school day begins, all while supporting a great cause.

In the spirit of the day, all profits will be donated to Good Shepherd, Australia’s oldest and longest-running not-for-profit dedicated to supporting women, girls, and families.

When: Friday, 8th May | 7:30 am – 8:30 am (8:10am latest arrival)

Where: BHCS Restaurant

Cost: $30 per Adult | $15 per Child/Student (paid upon arrival)

Special Perk: All Mums receive a free coffee on arrival.
