A Message from Keir and Emma

“We would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people, the first people to dream, create, wonder, dance, play and learn on this breathtaking land. This land was cared for and respected for tens of thousands of years. The First Nations people lived in companionship with the animals and the life on this land. We acknowledge that this is stolen land and we pay our respects to elders, past, present and emerging.”

Classroom Helpers

Today we held our 2026 classroom helpers workshop. We were very lucky to have a large number of willing community members from across the school in attendance, We talked through important ‘classroom helper’ information such as Working With Children Checks, Child Safe Processes such as signing in when on-site, respecting confidentiality and the behaviors and supports that classroom helpers can expect from classroom teachers and students.

Because most classroom help begins in English sessions, we also talked through a variety of strategies and language that classroom helpers might use when they are assisting students (or their own children!) with reading.

If there is interest, we would be happy to run another classroom helpers course later in the year. If you missed today’s session, or this sounds like it is something that would interest you, please email Emma (emma.mallia@education.vic.gov.au) and express your interest.

Our New Web-site

We are very excited to announce that the new BNWPS web-site is now up and running. We worked together with the amazing staff at Blueboat (an expert team of designers, strategists and creators) to create a web-site that reflects all that is wonderful about BNWPS. Please check out the new web-site here, and be sure to recommend the web-site (and the school!) to any parents/carers who may be looking for a school to enrol their child in in the future.

Education Sub-Committee Forum

Planning Weeks

Over the next few weeks, teaching teams will start to plan the learning and experiences centred around our new Inquiry. This means that there will be an adapted timetable for our students, where they will have a whole day of specialists, rather than their classroom teacher, and they may not have scheduled specialists at other times in the week.

The dates of our planning days are;

  • Foundation Tuesday 28th April
  • Grade 2 - Monday 4th May
  • Seniors - Tuesday 5th May
  • Middles - Wednesday 6th May
  • Grade 1 - Thursday 7th May
  • Specialist Teachers - Friday 8th May

Our specialist timetable will return to a new  ‘typical’ arrangement from Week four. Teachers will update their class timetables and share them with families this schedule is finalised.

Our new Inquiry is based around water. The school wide key understanding that students will explore is;

Water is precious. We need to manage water in sustainable ways. The health of water is the health of all living systems.

Teams will share more information about this Inquiry through their Learning Itineraries over the coming weeks.
