Kitchen Garden

Our Year 3/4 students have been having a fantastic time in the kitchen this term, creating delicious dishes such as tomato bruschetta, pasta salad and pumpkin dip using fresh, seasonal produce.
A standout moment was exploring our Chatham grown pumpkins. Many students were surprised to learn that pumpkins don’t always look orange on the outside! Cutting them open revealed vibrant colours inside, sparking curiosity and lots of excitement.
Along the way, students worked cooperatively in groups, building confidence in their cutting skills and learning the importance of teamwork in the kitchen. They also continued to refine our famous Chatham salad dressing, a well-known favourite in the Mackay family.
Looking ahead, our Year 5/6 students are eagerly preparing for their turn in the Kitchen Garden program next term. They’ve already been sharing recipe ideas and suggesting new produce to plant, showing great enthusiasm and creativity.
We can’t wait to share what we cook up next!
