We acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung People of the Kulin nation; past, present and those who will walk with us into the future.
We acknowledge the rich and unique cultural and spiritual relationships to the land, waters and seas, educational practices and the hopes of all First Nations Peoples. We do this in the spirit of reconciliation as we move to a place of justice and partnership - together we work, learn, play and care for one another and this land.
The Acknowledgement of Country below was made by Sophie in Year 4.
It has been a very exciting time at the school over the last few years as we have made a lot of capital improvements to our school buildings and grounds. These include our library upgrade, basketball court replacement, and the toilet upgrade.
When making these improvements around the school we always ensure student voice is a part of the planning and design phase. Students are the users of the facilities and we highly value their perspective and input.
One of the next big works around the school is the replacement of our Year 1 to 3 playground (the one in the middle of the school). This is going to be exciting for our students and when it comes to playgrounds it is so important that we listen to the experts; our students.
A few weeks ago, a representative from the company we have engaged with to replace the playground met with all of our Year 1 and 2 students, talked through the plans and options, answered student questions and listened to their ideas. Following that, the students then had the opportunity back in the classroom to vote on the colours for the playground.
We really look forward to this project going ahead later in the year. Please keep an eye out for the works and you will be able to see the great colour scheme our students have selected.
I would like to welcome Michael Minenna as a new maintenance person and groundskeeper. Michael has had experience working inside schools and loves fixing things. We know that Michael will be a fantastic addition to our staff and we look forward to seeing the fantastic work he does in ensuring our school grounds and buildings are safe and meeting the needs of our students.
Our Facilities subcommittee recently met to chat about how our school community can support the continual improvement and maintenance of our buildings and grounds.
There were some exciting ideas about enhancing what happens with Working Bees at the school. Please keep an eye out as we share these ideas in the coming months.
We have a large amount of uniforms in our lost property containers. If your child has lost an item of clothing, please make a time to come to the office and we can direct you to have a look at lost property.
Also, a reminder to label your children's uniforms. With names on them, we can return lost uniform items to students.
