Principal's News

As the year draws to a close I reflect on the achievements, challenges and blessings of 2024. It has been a remarkable year filled with learning, growth, faith and community spirit. As we enter the joyous season of Christmas, we give thanks for all that we have shared as a school community.

From the vibrant classrooms to the busy playground, this year has been filled with so many memorable moments. We congratulate our staff and students for their hard work and dedication in ensuring quality learning has taken place. Opportunities for students to celebrate their learning with parents and family members are front of mind. We also recall with joy,  the host of community events including the family disco, trivia night, Christmas carols, art show and athletics day which remind us of the strength and warmth of our community. Our liturgies, Masses, Sacraments and ‘Love in Action’ activities have brought us closer to our faith and encouraged us to live out the Gospel values at school, in Kensington, and in the wider community.

As we say goodbye to 2024, I extend heartfelt thanks to our dedicated teachers and staff who inspire and nurture our students every day. I recognise and thank parents and carers for your extraordinary support and involvement. So many of our programs, excursions and other activities would not exist without your involvement and we are deeply grateful.

We congratulate our Year 6 students on their graduation. We pray for their success and happiness as they move on to secondary school. Remember, you will always have a special place at Holy Rosary.

As we approach Christmas, we remember the true meaning of this holy season: the birth of Jesus Christ and the gift of love, hope and peace that he brings. May the joy of Christ’s birth fill your hearts and homes. We pray for peace, love and unity in our world and for the safety and happiness of all families over the holidays.

Beginning of 2025 Literacy and Numeracy Assessments: Take 2!

Apologies for the misinformation in last week’s newsletter!  As we will have our Step Up session today, your child/ren will be bringing home the name of their 2025  teacher/s and class name so you can book assessment times with the correct teacher.

Years 1-6 Literacy and Numeracy Assessments will take place from Wednesday 29 January to Friday 31 January 2025. Later this afternoon, you will receive an email from School Interviews with detailed instructions on the booking process.

These individual assessments provide an opportunity for your child’s 2025 teachers to build connections with their students and gather valuable data on literacy and numeracy skills. This information helps us meet the needs of each student.

Key Information:

  • Duration: Each assessment takes approximately 30 minutes.
  • Attendance: These are student-only appointments, and parents are not required to attend. Simply drop your child at their classroom, wait in the Welcome Place, or leave the grounds and return 30 minutes later.
  • Uniform: School uniform is not required for the assessment sessions.
  • Schedule: This is not a full school day and students are only required to attend during their scheduled assessment time.

If bookings are full or your family is on holiday, arrangements will be made to assess your child during school time.  For any questions, please contact the school office.

TeamKids will continue to operate during assessment week should you require their services.  The usual booking arrangements apply.

Formal classes for Years 1-6 will commence on Monday 3 February 2025.

Our Prep children  will begin their formal classes on Wednesday 29th January, 2025 as per previous notifications.  They will have the opportunity to be assessed during their Wednesday RDOs.  Further information will be shared with Prep parents early in 2025.

Reports

End of year reports were made available to parents last Friday.  An email was sent from Front Office providing instructions on how to access reports.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all!

Holy Rosary Christmas Hampers 2024

THANK-YOU!

Thank-you Holy Rosary Community, for another year of sharing your unwavering generosity. Our annual Christmas Hamper collection has again been a wonderful success!  With help from some Year 3/4Gold and White Christmas elves, many beautiful Christmas hampers have been prepared.  Our Parish Vinnies volunteers will deliver the hampers to families in Kensington, in the coming days, perfectly timed for Christmas! It's heart warming to see our community continuing to shine the Holy Rosary light brightly, in order to make someone else's Christmas happier. Thanks to all families who supported this appeal.
