MTB All Schools

Congratulations to Team SVC for their outstanding results at last Friday's All Schools MTB Championships held at the Glenorchy MTB Park.

Such a great day with all students representing the College with distinction and participating to the best of their ability.

The XCO course was tough with the first kilometer being a full-on climb before some respite at the top of the hill, followed by a more narrow track with another climb at the end of the lap.

Particular recognition to Alexander Lusted (Year 9) who pushed himself to complete two laps of the XCO in his first-ever race, Lachlan Seabourne (Year 9) for managing to complete a lap nursing a hamstring strain, and Archie Gray (Year 11) who rode with a suspect chain before it finally broke.

Many thanks to Archie Gray (Year 11) and Darcy Berry (Year 12) for their work with the organisation before and during the event, carting spare bikes and coming up with the ingenious idea of using our vehicle awnings as a marquee.

Results and other highlights included:

  • Jonte Tummon won place in U17 Downhill (1:31.5), with four riders in the Top 10 for the same age group including Willem Burgess (4), Lukasz Lebski (6), Henry Forbes (8)
  • Won the U17 Male pennant (combined points between XCO and Downhill)
  • Cillian Cullen best in Downhill U15 (2:05.1)
  • Archie Gray best in Downhill U19 (2:04.2)

Cross Country

  • U17 Lucan Donovan 4th, Jonte Tummon 8th out of 100 riders. All riders completed at least one lap of the course
  • U15 Cillian Cullen 21st out of 95 riders
  • U19 Archie Gray 14th out of 40 riders despite breaking his chain late in the race

Congratulations to all students and a big thank you to College staff, Mr Barry Maxwell, and Zac Hamilton.
