KESAB project 2024 is powering ahead. Today, students from F13 and F15 learned about the journey of food as it travels from its source to our dinner plates. They became more aware of the impact this journey has on our home: the environment.

Meanwhile, Student Action Team representatives, who focus on sustainability have been busy planning the further development of composting. The Murray rooftop garden is about to get a major facelift to create an awesome outdoor learning area with the opportunity to teach others at our school the importance of our environment, reducing the use of plastic and our green waste. Our second focus area, the nature garden, with a frog pond, near the junior primary car park, will also benefit from compost. In this area, you will also see our very shabby totem poles - the final focus area for the sustainability crew. These will be rejuvenated with new animals: all native to South Australia. Stay tuned and we will keep bringing you regular updates.

Since the junior primary playground is being rebuilt, our reception to year 2 students have lost one of their main play areas for recess and lunch. The SAT’s (student action teams) have come up with an enjoyable replacement called Fun Time! Some year six volunteers and SAT reps set up engaging activities to do at lunchtime each week. Activities we have had are things such as reading, bowling, drawing, kinetic sand and chalk. This has been a blast and the little kids really enjoy the variety of activities. This is a great opportunity for the year six students to support the youngest members of our school and is a fantastic example of the amazing community spirit at Magill.

Tech Heads

The SAT Tech Heads have been busy supporting our junior primary students with all their digital technology needs this semester. We helped the year 1 students in N1 and N2 to access the Chromebooks for the first time and showed them how to login using the username and password. We also supported them in accessing and using Mathletics.

We taught year 2 students in N5 how to use Canva, particularly the AI image generator.

This term we are supporting the year 2 students in M1 and M2 to use the Google suite of apps such as Classroom, Docs and Slides.

Have a great weekend,

Erica and the wellbeing team.
