Leadership Report
Welp, our stretch of fortunate weather was bound to run out soon enough. After an unusually warm and sunny stretch through May, the cold has finally settled in (although, still not much rain yet...). While we’ve all enjoyed the rare warm, sunny days, the crisp weather brings its own charm and reminds us of the cozy winter months ahead. Make sure your children are dressed warmly to combat the chills, and have the appropriate clothing for outdoor play. More importantly, please remember to clearly label all jumpers and jackets - our lost property station is beginning to overflow with thousands of dollars in unclaimed uniforms.
With that, thank goodness for heated pools! Our receptions dove into their swimming lessons last week with enthusiasm and joy. They arrived at school with beaming smiles, knowing they had swimming to look forward to. Hearing them all rave about their experiences at the end of the day shows how much they enjoyed and benefited from the program. Thank you to the parents for your extra efforts, and a special thanks to our hardworking reception teachers who often sacrificed break times to ensure smooth transitions, supervision, and constant reminders about personal belongings during the week of swimming.
Exciting changes are also happening in our playground area. With the commencement of our new playground construction, the old playground has now been knocked down, and although this means our students currently have fewer play options, we’re thrilled about the long-term benefits. In the meantime, the necessity of sharing play spaces with older students is fostering a sense of community and cooperation among different year groups. This interaction is a wonderful opportunity for our younger students to learn from their older peers, and for everyone to practice patience and sharing.
In other news, we recently held a pupil-free day dedicated to visible learning, focusing on strategies that empower our students to take charge of their own learning. This professional development day for our teachers was invaluable in reinforcing our commitment to fostering a learning environment where students can set their own goals, monitor their progress, and reflect on their learning journeys.
As we look forward to the rest of the term, I want to express my gratitude to all parents, guardians, and staff for your ongoing support and dedication. Have a lovely long weekend.
