Principal News
I would like to begin this edition of the newsletter with a focus on National Reconciliation Week (NRW) which is acknowledged from 27 May - 3 June each Year. NRW is a chance for all schools to reflect and learn more about our shared history in Australia. With the theme for 2024 of 'Now More Than Ever' we are reminded that the work towards reconciliation continues.
Our Year 5 students have had a fantastic time away at The Ranch camp. Highlights included a giant swing, initiative course and accommodation in log cabins. Being away from home takes a great amount of courage and resilience from our students. I would like to acknowledge our students for taking on the challenges of camp and also thank our staff and parent/carer helpers who supported students to have a great time on camp.
Last week we farewelled Helen Minty who has been the long-standing Business Manager at Banyan Fields Primary School. Managing the business operations of a school our size is a big role and I would like to than Helen for her service to our school. This week we welcome Isabella Cannistraro who will be taking on the Business Manager role moving forward. Clair Goetz has also returned to Banyan Fields this week and will join our Year 5 team.
Earlier this week I shared with the school community that I will be leaving Banyan Fields Primary School at the end of this term. I have been appointed as Principal of Balnarring Primary School and will start at the beginning of Term 3. The decision to leave Banyan Fields has not been made lightly. I have thoroughly enjoyed leading our vibrant school community. I look forward to touching based with as many students, staff and community members as I can during the last few weeks of term.
