Welcome to our new sustainability page!

We're hoping this page brings you updates about sustainability practices we are running at Holy Spirit and news and events coming up on the sustainability calendar.

This page will be run by our sustainability leaders, Ede and Emily, and Sarah de Jong, our Visual Arts teacher who has a passion for sustainability.

World Environment Day - June 5th

This special day is dedicated to raising awareness and encouraging action for the protection of our environment, and our school community enthusiastically embraced this opportunity to learn, share, and make a positive impact.

Have a watch on the video below to see how your family can make some simple changes around the house to save energy (and money!)

Recycling stations for those tricky items

We are excited to announce our new recycling program in partnership with TerraCycle, aimed at making our school and community more sustainable. Through this program, we can now recycle a wider range of items that are often difficult to dispose of responsibly, including dental care products, spray bottles, and writing instruments. TerraCycle specialises in recycling these hard-to-recycle materials, ensuring they are repurposed into new products instead of ending up in landfills. This initiative not only helps reduce waste but also educates our students and their families about the importance of recycling. We encourage everyone to participate by bringing these items to our designated collection spot. You can find our recycling station next to the veggie garden, next to the Year 1/2 building.

What's growing in the garden?

Garden club runs every Tuesday at recess - we are looking forward to seeing lots of green thumbs there!
