Principal's Report

Report from our Principal: Duncan Arendse

Dear Parents, Friends and Father Arsenio,

We are at the busy point of the semester where our teaching staff are drawing together our student's reports. As I explained at the recent School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting, the importance of this semester summary is that it is the tangible proof of what students have learned, not just done. Kayla will also clarify later in the newsletter the procdures around parent/teacher interviews.

Student Leadership was another topic at the recent SAC meeting. Given it has been a number of years since this was reviewed I have suggested that a sub committee be convened to look at the process, and make recommendations to improve the current  model. If you are interested please let me know by email. I will also put out a call again next week. This committee will also be calling for suggestions so please watch out in the term ahead for any correspondence.

Swimming lessons will begin for the entire school shortly. This is quite a feat in logistics and I appreciate the effort that Caeleigh goes to to ensure it runs well. Please watch out for information from class teachers in relation to timing of lessons and class movements in the weeks ahead.

We have several work experience students starting at the school in the last week of term as well. They are all ex students and it is great that they seek this opportunity back at our/their school. They will assist with supervision at swimming amongst others tasks in their time with us. I wish them well.

Alison Laurence, one of our year three teachers has resigned her position at our school as at the end of next week.  I informed her class earlier this week. We are extremely fortunate to have Beck Young ready to return to work who will assume responsibility for Alison's class. I know I speak for all in our community when I welcome Beck back.

Have a great week,

Duncan
