Youth Mental Health Forum

Week 6 Term 2, 2024

For the past few years, the College has been proud to host the annual Youth Mental Health Forum. Today, the forum brought together young minds passionate about mental wellness, providing a platform for open dialogue and innovative solutions. Many students from different schools around the region attended, along with several of our own. They learned about the pressing issues and potential interventions surrounding youth mental health.

The forum served as a catalyst for addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by today's youth, ranging from academic pressure to social media-induced stress. Through panel discussions and interactive sessions, students explored various strategies to promote mental resilience and foster supportive communities.

There was an emphasis on the importance of destigmatising mental illness and promoting self-care practices, such as mindfulness and seeking professional help when needed.

Moreover, the forum provided a platform for students to connect with mental health professionals, advocates, and peers, fostering a sense of belonging and solidarity.

The YMHF is an inclusive and supportive environment where our students learned how they can thrive mentally, emotionally, and academically, and support others in doing so.

“It’s been a really good experience to engage with new people and step out of my comfort zone.” Emma, Year 10
