Principal's News

Welcome to winter!  We’ve had the joy of a glorious autumn but as the leaves hit the ground, we know there’s definitely colder days to follow. Winter allows us all to hibernate a little; it’s the perfect time to choose a great book to read to your children, and one for yourself, to share, model and cultivate the reading passion in your children.  All children visit the library as a class each week and they are permitted to borrow up to five books at any time.

Speaking of reading; every year we have a wonderful celebration for Book Week. This includes a book parade where students dress as their favourite book character, or according to the Bookweek theme. The theme for this year is ‘Reading is Magic’. Our focus is on reading and literature so the intention is to use items found at home to create the costumes or to borrow items, not to hire or buy expensive costumes. More details will be given closer to August.

King’s Birthday

Monday 10 June is a public holiday in honour of the King’s birthday. Holy Rosary School and TeamKids will be closed on this day.

Contact Details

Please ensure your contact details are correct. Last week’s lockdown reminds us the importance of having accurate contact details.

Protect HR’s Reputation

Our Parent Code of Conduct states that adults should “refrain from activities, conduct or communication that would reasonably be seen to undermine the reputation of the school, employees or students of the school, including activities on social media.” Thank you to the parents who advocate for Holy Rosary and support our staff in their work. On occasion, you may disagree with our decisions or course of action. Please come and have a chat with relevant staff so we can work together to resolve any concerns.  Venting via apps or social media is in breach of our Code of Conduct. Additionally, although you may feel you are communicating in a confidential manner, everything you say or write on social media can be misconstrued, and easily shared with a wider audience.

Biggest Morning Tea

Don’t forget that Cat and the Learning Support Officers will be hosting the Biggest Morning Tea on Friday 28 June, the last day of this term. They are still seeking small items to include in their lucky door prize. If you can support this, please send donations to the office marked to Cat’s attention.

School Fees

Parents are responsible for the payment of all fees, levies and charges associated with their child’s enrolment and attendance at Holy Rosary School. I understand that this is a challenging time financially for some families. To assist with this we have a reduced fee for health care card holders. I encourage you to contact Lynette if you think you qualify. Additionally, I am available to assist, should you have difficulty paying your fees.

If fees are outstanding and you have not made an appointment to discuss this with me, your child may be excluded from optional school events, such as excursions, camps and other extracurricular activities. In fairness to other families, especially those who engage in fundraising activities and meet their fee commitments, it is imperative that fees are paid punctually and in full.

We want the best for all children at Holy Rosary and we can only provide the best when we have the funds to allow us to do this. Please make it a priority to pay any outstanding fees.

Semester One Reports

Reports will be sent to parents via the nForma platform on Friday  21 June at 3:45pm.  It is vital that we have all parents’ current email addresses as nForma auto generates emails using the information we have on our system.

Many parents request copies of their children’s reports from the school after the reporting period, however,  there are two ways parents can avoid this:

  1. Download and save your child’s report for your records on your PC.
  2. Create and save your own password when prompted on the platform, therefore overriding the temporary password issued to you.  The temporary password expires and will not let users in from one semester to the next.
