Japanese Phrases of the Week

From this week, Japanese Captains at the Senior Campus and Japanese ambassadors at the Junior Campus are going to encourage you, students, teachers and parents to use different Japanese phrases per week.

 

When it’s suitable, please try them 😊

 

This week, there are three greeting words to remember as Japanese people change greeting words depending on the time of the day.

 

We are going to practise “Good morning”, “Hello (said in the afternoon)” and “Good evening”:

  1. Good morning: Ohayo gozaimasu (sounds like “Oh Ha Yo, Go Zai mus”)
  2. Hello (afternoon greeting): Kon-nichi wa (sounds like “Con niche waa”)
  3. Good evening: Kon-ban wa (sound like “kohn bun waa”)
