Visual Arts
This week in Visual Arts, students explored a variety of weaving and textile techniques while developing their fine motor skills, creativity, and patience.
Foundation students were introduced to paper weaving, learning how to carefully thread strips of coloured paper over and under to create bold, patterned designs.
Year 1/2 students created colourful running stitch wall hangings, learning how to thread a needle and sew a running stitch. They used different yarn to help make their creative and unique designs.
Year 3/4 students completed beautiful paper plate tree weavings, combining weaving techniques with natural themes to create unique and decorative pieces. Students also warped their own looms, a challenging step that required careful focus and patience. They showed great persistence and problem-solving as they prepared their plates for weaving, and their finished artworks reflected both their creativity and developing textile skills.
Year 5/6 students demonstrated their growing textile skills by sewing their own monster plushies. Using the blanket stitch, they joined fabric pieces together, then added creative features to give their monsters personality and character.
Itβs been a wonderful week of hands-on making, imagination, and creativity across all year levels!

In week 7, students in prep to year 2 worked on teamwork skills and working with a partner. Activities included hungry hippo game, which requires one student to lie on a roller board, while their partner pushes and pulls them in and out of the centre, to collect balls. It requires teamwork, communication and strength. The students love this activity and it great to see how they work together. The 34s had their first practical session on their bikes, where they were introduced to riding with a group, working on following instructions, the right way to get on and off their bikes, and the power position.
They then broke off into 4 groups, which involved
It was a great introductory lesson and the students did extremely well.
The year 56s had an introduction to tennis, working on hitting the ball to a partner and hitting with accuracy using both freehand and backhand strokes.
Week 8, saw the students in prep to 2 having an introduction to tennis skills, the 34s continued on with their riding lessons and the 56s continued to develop their skills and game sense in tennis.

Β
Also over the past 2 weeks students in year 56 have also started their practical lessons in bike ed which includes the outline above, as well as riding around the nearby footpaths and streets.Β

Β
It is great to see the enjoyment everyone has with bike ed and the increased number of students riding their bikes to school.

Girls Softball β State Finals
On Monday 24th November, our year 4-6 girls headed to the State Finals. This is an amazing achievement and they had a great day. They should all be very proud of their efforts as Anna, and I and the school community is so very proud.
All games were very close, and the girls probably didnβt play to the standard they are capable of, but they tried their best. This has been a remarkable year for these girls with most making State finals for both Teeball and Softball. Congratulations to these girls.
I would personally like to thank Ms Anna for all her support this year, but over the past 5 years. She has done an outstanding job looking after the girls, coaching them during the year, scoring and managing the team. Thankyou so much Ms Anna, we and I couldnβt have done it without you.
We also had a number of family members strongly support the girls throughout the year and over the past few competitions, thankyou so much. I would particularly like to thank Claire, Mayaβs mum for helping through the year with equipment transport, and this week for helping to take a few of the girls to the state finals.Β

Last week, we concluded our First Ever Le Page Spelling Bee by running the final round.Β
Β
This round was much harder than any of the rounds before because the kids bravely stood up in front of their peers and spelled into a microphone.Β
Β
They all did a fantastic job, and I was so proud to see them confidently standing and spelling away. Lots of other students came to watch and support which was also great to see.
Β
Our winners, walking away with Scholastic Book Fair vouchers, were: Stella and Ziggy (Group 3); Noah K (Group 4) and Owen (Group 5). Huge congratulations!
Β
I also just want to take this opportunity again to say how amazing it was to have 41 kids come and spell together for the last five weeks. Hopefully, we will be able to run a spelling bee again in 2026.Β

Winners are grinners!
Β
We also ran our last Scholastic Book Fair of the year which as always was a massive success. Thank you to all who came and supported us!
Β
Lastly, we had Dean Rankine visit our 3-6s. He ran two hands-on sessions in which the kids learned how to create graphic novel panels. Dean is a seasoned graphic novel author and illustrator, having worked on the Simpsons, Rick & Morty and lots of his own projects (weΒ

have Death Metal Emo Elves in the library now).Β

2025 Music Connect Program β Le Page Primary School Γ Cheltenham Secondary College
In 2025, Le Page Primary School partnered with Cheltenham Secondary College (CSC) to deliver the Music Connect Program, an exciting instrumental collaboration for Year 5/6 students. Each Year 5/6 class participated in one term of weekly 50-minute lessons, learning an orchestral instrument with guidance from trained CSC mentor students. Le Page students worked in small groups and rotated through a range of instruments including strings, woodwind, brass, and drum kit/percussion. The program provided a hands-on introduction to orchestral music and gave students the chance to experience ensemble learning in a supportive setting. Following their term in the program, students are encouraged to continue their musical journey by enrolling in private or group lessons through the schoolβs instrumental program.
The goals for Le Page students were to be exposed to a variety of orchestral instruments, form positive friendships with their mentors, and build self-esteem and confidence through learning something new. For CSC mentors, the program provided valuable leadership experience through planning and teaching music lessons, fostering a love of music in younger students, building connections with mentees, and strengthening their own confidence. For both schools, the Music Connect Program aims to build strong partnerships through music, support student wellbeing and capacity, work towards the long-term development of a shared school orchestra, and position both schools as leaders in innovative, high-impact music education programs.
This term, 56C visited CSC β hereβs some photos.

Farewell
It is with deep sadness that I will be leaving Le Page Primary School at the end of this year. Working with your children has been an absolute joy, and I feel truly honoured and privileged to have been part of their musical learning journeys. I will miss them greatly and wish every student all the very best as they continue through their schooling years.
With many thanks to all the Le Page families
Miss Susie
