Wonderful 1

The 0ne-der Stars 1s

Term 4 Week 8 2025 -  Friday 28th November

What have we been up to?

Over the past two weeks, our Grade 1 students have been busy and engaged in lots of exciting learning! We have wrapped up our narrative writing unit, where students planned, drafted, edited and finally published their own stories. They should be very proud of their creativity and hard work, it has been wonderful to see their confidence as writers grow.

This week, we have begun exploring persuasive texts. To kick off the unit, we read and analysed Hey, Little Ant, a story that presents two different perspectives: a boy deciding whether or not to squish an ant, and the ant who tries to convince the boy to spare him. Students have been discussing each character’s reasons and identifying the persuasive language they use. This has been a great introduction to understanding how writers influence their audience.

In Maths, we have just finished our unit on Time, where students explored reading o’clock and half-past times. We have now moved on to working with two-digit numbers, learning how to partition them into tens and ones. Students are enjoying using hands-on materials to build and break apart numbers in different ways.

We are looking forward to another great fortnight of learning ahead!

Here are some photo highlights from the fortnight that was.
