Term 4 Week 8 - 28th November 2025

The last couple of weeks in Prep have been full of learning, fun, and excitement! Students have been engaging in lots of 1:1 reading sessions and maths assessments, with some very pleasing progress to celebrate. The children are a little tired but still full of energy, keeping us on our toes!

We’ve also been busy preparing for the music concert. The dress rehearsal went really well, and we’re looking forward to performing on Monday for our 2026 Preps and current 1s & 2s, Thursday for Prep parents, and Thursday for students in Years 3–6. More information about the Prep concert can be found in this newsletter.

Thank you to all families that attended the Student led conferences. We hope you enjoyed looking at their Leadership folders throughout the year. They were very excited for you to be in their classroom!

We’ve gone early and have already put up the class Christmas tree. Preps each got to decorate a couple of baubles and then proudly all hung them on the tree. Please come in to look, they are very proud of it, especially the lights on the tree!

We’re now in the home stretch of the term, with lots of exciting activities coming up before the holidays

Friendly Reminder - Many students are still coming to school without hats.  Please note that in term 4 hats are required for both lunchtime and recess play outside.

Important dates ahead:

Thursday 4th December  - Prep Mini Concert Performance

Tuesday 9th December - “Up Day” (Students spend a morning in their new classroom with their 2026 teacher)

Thursday 18th December - End of term/year.

Literacy

Students have been busy writing their final narrative pieces, putting their creativity and storytelling skills into practice. Following this, they have begun Reader’s Theatre, an exciting new activity where they get to read from a script and bring their stories to life by acting them out in small groups for the class. This week’s first session was a great success, with students enjoying the chance to practise their reading, work collaboratively, and perform for their peers. They showed great enthusiasm and confidence, and are eagerly looking forward to learning new scripts each week, developing both their reading fluency and expressive skills in a fun and engaging way.

Maths:

This week, all students have completed 1:1 maths assessments to showcase their understanding of the concepts and skills they have been learning throughout the semester. These assessments provide a valuable insight into each child’s progress and help us celebrate the growth they have made so far. For the rest of the term, we will focus on consolidating their learning through fun, engaging activities and practice, ensuring that ea.ch student feels confident and prepared as they move into 2026. Our goal is to reinforce their knowledge, build their confidence, and set them up for continued success in the year ahead
