Principal's Message to the School Community

Dear KPS Community,
On Tuesday, our school came together to recognise the importance of Remembrance Day — a time to honour the courage, service, and sacrifice of those who have served our country in times of war and peacekeeping.
Across classrooms, students took part in meaningful learning activities to help them understand the significance of the day and why it continues to hold such an important place in Australian history. At 11:00 am, the whole school paused for a minute of silence, reflecting respectfully on the contribution of the men and women who have defended our nation.
We were also proud to have three of our school captains – Molly, Hayden and Riley – represent KPS at the Kyneton RSL Remembrance Day Ceremony, laying a wreath on behalf of our school community. Their participation was a wonderful example of leadership and respect.
Lest we forget.
Planning for the 2026 School Year
Planning and preparations for the 2026 school year are well underway. We are in the process of finalising classroom teacher placements and will shortly commence the development of class lists.
Our teaching staff invests significant time and care in creating well-balanced class groupings. This comprehensive process takes into account communication from parents and carers, the wellbeing and educational needs of each child, and teachers’ professional insights into productive learning relationships and positive friendship groups.
Parents and carers who wish to provide information relevant to their child’s placement for 2026 are invited to email me at alistair.rayner@education.vic.gov.au by Monday, 24 November.
Please note that, even if information was provided in previous years, a new submission is required for 2026 placements.
The proposed class structure for 2026 is as follows:
- 2 Prep classes
- 2 Year One classes
- 2 Year Two classes
- 3 Year Three/Four classes
- 4 Year Five/Six classes
We appreciate the continued trust and support of our parent and carer community, and we assure you that the professional judgment of our teaching staff and leadership team will guide all placement decisions in the best interests of our students.
Yours sincerely,
Alistair Rayner
Principal
