Principal Reflections

Dear Parents and Carers,

World Teachers' Day

Tomorrow, Friday 31st October, is World Teachers' Day. As leaders of a large Catholic School, we know we are only as good as the people around us, and we feel very fortunate to have the best staff. The teachers at St Edward's School work tirelessly to ensure our students are given every opportunity to grow in their learning and seek ways to support our children with their individual needs and challenges. The teaching profession has changed enormously over the decades, however, the core value at the heart of teaching remains: "to make a difference in the lives of children" and to provide opportunities for them to gain the skills and knowledge they need to be employable when they leave school. We take this opportunity to thank our wonderful teachers at St Edward's for all their hard work, both in front of and behind the scenes, and for being such positive role models and mentors for our future generation. Happy World Teachers' Day!

Year 5 Leadership

It's that time of year when our Year 5 students are preparing to take on leadership roles in our school. Student leadership in a school setting is an important management function that helps ensure improved efficiency and voice, thereby supporting the achievement of goals. This week, we have received and shortlisted the applications for both the School and the Vice-Captain positions. Thank you to our wonderful Year 5 teachers and Mr Millman for preparing the students so well. All of the applications were well done and we are excited by the sheer number of students who want to be leaders in our school.

We look forward to being an active part of the preparation process to ensure we are set up for success in 2026.

Until next week,

Keep smiling,

Alison Hatton
