Confirmation

On the weekend 11 children from the school and parish received the Sacrament of Confirmation. Congratulations to Indi, Emily, Hannah, Alastair, Judd, Annabelle, Miles, Rose, Jufuor, Nyabol and Liana who were anointed with the sweet smelling chrism oil. The oil of chrism is a reminder of the call from God to be His fragrance of goodness in the world. 

The children met with Bishop Rene on Wed prior to the Confirmation and participated in a mini Confirmation retreat on Friday before being confirmed by Bishop Rene on Sunday.

Thanks also to Mrs Cheesman and St Mary's school musicians/ choir who enriched us with their beautiful singing at the church.

May the gifts of the Holy Spirit continue to deepen in the lives of all those who were confirmed.

Feast Days in the Church

This weekend the Church celebrates two important feasts.

All Saints' Day (November 1)

• Commemorates: All saints in heaven, both known and unknown, including those who don't have a specific feast day.
• Tradition: It's a day to celebrate the lives of saints and recognize that holiness is possible for all who follow the faith. 

All Souls' Day (November 2)

• Commemorates: All the faithful departed, including relatives, friends, and strangers who are no longer living. 
• Tradition: It's a day to pray for all those who have gone before us.

Andrew Chinn Concert

On Wed Andrew Chinn came to visit St Mary's and share many songs of faith and fun with the children. There was no shortage of smiles and laughter as the children joined in with the singing, actions and entertainment during the workshops throughout the day.  The concert at the end of  the  day was performed with great enthusiasm by everyone. You may just hear your children humming a tune over the next few days.
