Principal's Report
Principal’s Update
Term 4 is here and we are racing towards the end of another academic year. For the class of 2023 there are only weeks left with their farewell assembly on the 18 October. When we look back at their time at St Brigid’s there is always highlights and lowlights that occur in the human interactions that teenagers have, however I would like to think that overall, these students can say that they were proud to call themselves St Brigid’s students and they know that they will always belong here. With that sense of belonging in mind, we are reaching out to our past students with a reunion on Saturday 21st October for the classes of 2013, 2003, 1993, 1983 and 1973, so please promote that date among your family and friends.
I am excited to announce the 2024 College Captains and Student Leader Team. The selection panel who made these recommendations to me said that this was a very difficult decision as the quality of all of the applicants was exceptional. It is great to see such energy and enthusiasm for 2024.
School Captains: Ulani Hobbs and Tom Luke
School Vice Captains: Isaac Arnold, Emily Botterill, Sean Makoni and Indilly Penny
Leaders:
Scarlett Munday-Terry
Alex Rees
Tom Sostheim
Kim Morgan
Keely Elliott
Francine Aroza
Noah Kinnane
Currently, I am planning our staffing needs for 2024 and negotiating roles with teachers, while we await decisions from other staff on leave as to their plans for next year. I believe I can confidently say that in this time of teacher shortages, that St Brigid’s will be in a strong position for 2024 and I thank our staff, teaching and non-teaching, for their dedication to our students.
It is great to see that our sporting prowess continues with successful results in netball, basketball and athletics over the previous weeks. Yesterday three of our athletes, Iris Sudholz, Archie Elliott and Isla Hiscock, qualified for State Titles, and the remainder of the squad performed to high standards.
The College continues to look to grow in a controlled way and with that in mind we have prepared the latest promotional video to show how proud we are of the school. Here is the link to the short video which I ask you to share widely with people who may be considering St Brigid’s as an option for their child: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDZuhA68wIo
Stay safe,
Gerard Raven
