Health and PE Week
Health and PE week is a celebration of all things great about getting active and making healthy choices. This week was jam packed full of excursions, competitions and activities for all year levels that promoted the benefits of being active. This year HPE week fell late in the third quarter (term), in the ninth inning (September), right before the last change of ends (school holidays).
The week started with the year 8’s venturing out to YMCA Epping to try their hand at several different sports. Students were placed in groups with others outside of their form group, so it was a great way to talk to other students they hadn’t previously met before. Out of all the sports, a highlight was beach volleyball, getting to take some spectacular dives in the sand to save points.
The year 7s had a colourful time participating in a diversity dash. This was an obstacle course set around the oval, with the twist being that staff were armed with bottles of coloured holi powder ready to drench the students as they completed the course. This was a celebration to showcase everyone can be involved in activities that get you moving and laughing at the same time.
Our intermediate and senior students competed in Futsal and Basketball competitions, showcasing some serious skill and drawing a big crowd, especially for the finals. We had guest presenters for our year 10s who discussed and informed them of the consequences and outcomes of decisions made regarding health and wellbeing.
Not to forget the staff, we had a healthy breakfast cooked by the incredible VET Cookery students as well as some group fitness classes run in the gym.
