Beach STEAM:

Friday saw our prep and year 1/2 students participate in 2023 Beach STEAM at the Sorrento Foreshore.

A big thank you to our parent helpers, Liz, Zoe, Fiona, Louise and Angela for their wonderful help. The students had some challenging activities.

National Water WeekThis month is National Water Week 17-23. We often don't think about where our water comes from but 50% - 85% of the earth's oxygen comes from marine plants and our rainforests are responsible for roughly one third (28%).

Think about how you can conserve our freshwater , only about 3% of the earth's surface is freshwater. Of that, only about 1.2 percent can be used as drinking water.

Have shorter showers, mulch your gardens, connect a water tank to your house.

Boomerang Bags

Boomerang Bags are asking if anyone has fabric that they don't want, they are looking for donations to make more bags. Fabric can be dropped at school.

Our gold coin day for a Boomerang Bag is 24th November .

Citizen Scientists

Become a Citizen Scientist and help track and record shark, skate and chimaeras eggs cases.

CSIRO, Australia's national science agency, is calling on citizen scientists to find and record egg cases washing up on Australian coasts, so researchers can better- understand oviparous chondrichthyans: eggs laying sharks, skates and chimaeras. Egg cases are important for understanding the basic biology of oviparous chondrichthyans, as well as revealing valuable information such as where different species live and where their nurseries are located.

To get involved in the Great Egg case Hunt, you can record sightings via the Shark Trust citizen science mobile app or through the project website

This week is also the Great Aussie Bird Count.Download the app Birdlife Australia app  and log the birds that you see in your back yard.
