Alan Dormer
Parent & Current Member/Treasurer
Two of my sons have graduated from JMSS, with my third currently in Year 11. Their experiences at the school have been exceptional, and it has been a pleasure to contribute as a parent member and Treasurer on the School Council for the past four years.
As an engineer and the Managing Director of a high-technology company affiliated with Monash University and CSIRO, I understand the importance of a STEM education. I am keen to continue supporting JMSS for another two years until my youngest son graduates, bringing my experience and industry connections to benefit the school community.

I am interested in the governance of the school to ensure the best possible outcomes for students and teachers. I have experience serving on both primary and secondary school councils, contributing to strategic planning, budget oversight as Treasurer, and community engagement. I have also assisted with fundraising at previous schools and understand the importance of community support in achieving school goals. With experience in government policy, regulation, and emergency response, I bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills to decision-making processes. I enjoy working collaboratively with school staff, parents, and fellow council members to support the school’s vision and continuous improvement. As a local parent of a new intake Year 10 student, I have a strongpersonal investment in the school’s success and future direction. I also have a keen interest in science and education,and I am particularly passionate about fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. My experience in leadership and structured decision-making allows me to contribute effectively to the council’s responsibilities, and I look forward to supporting the school community.

Last year, I served as a member—and treasurer—on the Secondary School Council at Suzanne Cory High School, a selective school in Melbourne. I actively engaged in school life by providing feedback and advising the principal on various initiatives. During the same year, I also served on a primary school council.
Before that, I participated in numerous meetings with the principal and staff at my former secondary school, where I contributed valuable feedback and helped shape future school plans.
I hold a master's degree in Computer Science and a management role at a world-renowned techcompany, which has equipped me with skills in process improvement, budget management, and innovation.
I understand the challenges faced by teachers and schools in Australia. As a parent, I bring firsthand experience and a genuine passion for enhancing educational outcomes. Additionally, my role as a subcommittee member of a swimming club demonstrates my commitment to extracurricular development.
My background in technology, organizational leadership, and active participation in school and community activities uniquely positions me to contribute meaningfully to the School Council.
Moses Khor

I am a current School Council member, and parent to a Year 12 student at JMSS. It has been a pleasure to serve the last two years, to help the Principal and his dedicated team lead and teach our children, and ensure the smooth and effective operation of the school.
I am the current Head of Physics at Camberwell Grammar School, and have been teaching for 15 years. My past experiences include being the chairman of the board of EQUIP Training, which is a Registered Training Organisation for language learning and intercultural studies, to prepare people for cross-cultural work and profession. If re-elected to the Council, I look forward to working together with the other Council members and Mr Chisholm to continue the great work that Mr Corkill did in the past 15 years.

My name is Donna Petersen. I would like to join the JMSS school council as I am passionate to get involved in the school community. I am currently finishing my two year term for my child's secondary college, as a parent committee member in the school council, as well as on the finance committee.
I am currently the School Council President of the primary school for my other child, as well as the Treasurer. In both schools, I was able to participate in their 4 year school reviews, meeting new people from the Department of Education and felt like I learned so much about each school.I hope to continue to give back to schools as well as support the school to provide the best educational outcomes forthe students.
I will use this opportunity to learn more about JMSS to witness the teamwork, collaborations and effort that have gone into making JMSS such a fine school. I greatly look forward to providing positive contributions for the students, teachers and staff.
