Year 4 Highlight

This term in Religion, our Year 4 students have been learning about how prayer helps people grow closer to God. We explored the three types of prayer—Vocal, Contemplative, and Meditative—and the different ways we can pray. Students discovered that we can pray together in communal settings, such as during Mass, where we join in formal prayers like The Lord’s Prayer (The Our Father), or we can pray individually through personal (informal) prayers of Petition, Praise, Thanks, or Sorrow.
We also explored how the six major world religions experience prayer, deepening our understanding of different faith traditions. Students had the opportunity to share objects and symbols that support prayer in their own faiths, such as Rosary beads and The Holy Bible (Christianity), The Qur’an ~ sacred text/book (Islam), Books and shrines about The Gurus (Sikhism), a pendant of Budda (Buddhism), Chanting beads and The Bhagavad Gita ~sacred text/book (Hinduism).
This learning has enriched our appreciation of the many ways people connect with God through prayer.
