Prep to Grade 2:

Dear Prep-2 Families,

Welcome back! We hope you had a restful and refreshing break. It’s been an exciting time back at school, filled with new beginnings, enthusiasm, and a renewed sense of purpose. The energy in the halls is palpable, and we are eager to share all the wonderful things happening in our school community.

This week, our students have jumped right back into their learning, tackling fresh subjects and projects with the same determination and curiosity that make this such a special place. Whether it’s diving into math, getting creative in the art room, or collaborating on the hockey field, our students have already shown what they can achieve this year.

Here are a few highlights from the week:

1. Welcoming New and Familiar Faces:

We are thrilled to welcome the Preps who have joined our Waverley Meadows family this semester. Our returning students have done a wonderful job helping them feel at home, and we look forward to seeing these new connections blossom over the coming weeks.

2. New Semester, New Goals:

Our students have begun setting personal and academic goals for the semester. Teachers have been guiding them through this process, ensuring each student has a roadmap for success. We encourage families to check in with their students and support them as they work toward these goals.

3. Library Bags

Please ensure that your child has a library bag.

Preps can use the red bags that they were given in the first week of school. The books that were inside the red bags are for families to keep and enjoy at home.

4. Home Reading

Year 1 and 2 students have started taking home books this week. Prep students will take home books when they complete Stage 1 at the end of Term 2.

5. Inquisitive Minds

In Term 1, we are diving into two exciting topic: Living and Non-Living Things and Mini Beasts. Through the lens of inquiry-based learning, students will explore and discover the fundamental differences between living organisms and non-living objects, building their understanding through curiosity and hands-on activities. Stay tuned in the coming weeks to find out more about the wonderful incursion opportunity in Week 8.
