Principal Address

Message from Ms C Scott

It is with great pride that I reflect on my first term at Thomas Reddall High School. I am truly proud of our school and incredibly excited about the plans, activities and initiatives that are coming to fruition as we move through the 2025 school year.

I am impressed by our wonderful team of motivated, dedicated, caring and compassionate executive, teaching and support staff who are inspired to drive change and make a difference.

This term has seen a well-attended, action packed swimming carnival. I loved watching the enthusiastic participation of so many of our students. I congratulate Ms Adamson for her exemplary organisation.

We inducted our new leadership teams including our School Representative Council, Year 12 leaders, Peer Support Leaders, NASCA leaders and Ohana leaders at a lovely induction ceremony and afternoon tea. It was wonderful to see so many of our parents attend this special ceremony and share in their child’s pride and achievement. I thank Ms Fretwell for her organisation of this and the consideration and thought she has put in to how to develop the leadership potential of so many of our students. Ms Fretwell has organised cross school leadership networks for our students to be a part of and has lots of exciting plans to ensure student voice is forefront in decision making at our school.

International Women’s Day and its significance as a drive for equity for women was organised by our Girls Adviser, Ms Marzano. The lesson, activities and atmosphere on the day was outstanding and I was delighted to see the engagement of our students in developing their understanding of such an important social justice concern.

Thank you to Ms Marzano for her work and to Mrs Bullock and Cameron Fitzgerald, NASCA Programme Lead, who organised additional workshops for some NASCA students.

Harmony Day is always such an important date in the school calendar. Ms Yaqub and her team created a fun and informative day positively promoting the rich cultural diversity of our school and actively teaching lessons of inclusivity, respect and belonging. Well done to Ms Yaqub and all of the students who participated so enthusiastically.

We will be holding our Anzac Day ceremony on Wednesday 30th April. Anzac Day falls in the school holidays this year so this may be a nice opportunity for families to participate in community Anzac events. I am grateful to Mrs Jones for her organisation and enthusiasm in delivering a meaningful learning experience for our students, teaching about the legacy of the brave men and women who have served our country.

Our Year 7 students have settled in well. We have held our Meet the Teacher BBQ and handed out interim reports. Students have also participated in a day camp and peer support sessions. It was nice to see so many parents attending our BBQ and engaging with their child and teachers. We hope to hold more events like this throughout the year and further build on our working relationships with our parents and community.

Term 1 has been full, busy and productive and with the holidays in sight, I wish you all a well deserved rest. Relax, recharge and get ready for what is set to be an even bigger and better Term 2!
