2025 House Athletics Carnival

The 2025 House Athletics Carnival was a fantastic display of competition, teamwork, and determination. With 165 races throughout the day, students put in outstanding performances across all events.

Congratulations to Chisholm for successfully defending their title and securing back-to-back victories—a remarkable achievement after finishing last in 2023. A big thank you to all staff and students who contributed to the event, from officiating and recording results to competing and supporting their peers.

Fraser Boyle Honours Bailey’s Day at Monash Children’s Hospital

Fraser Boyle (Year 9) recently had the honour of attending the unveiling of a plaque at the Children's Cancer Centre at Monash Children's Hospital, recognising the incredible work of Patrick Tessier, founder of Bailey’s Day.

Patrick sadly lost his two-year-old son, Bailey, to cancer in 2004 but has worked tirelessly ever since to improve facilities, services, and research at the Centre. Having been treated at the Centre himself, Fraser has previously shared his story to help raise funds for Bailey’s Day and Monash Children’s Hospital. Invited to represent the many young patients who have benefited from Patrick’s work, Fraser reunited with Patrick, met Monash Health CEO Eugine Yafele, and spoke with future oncologists training at the Centre.

Fraser’s parents shared, “We're forever grateful for the care he received then and continues to receive in the Cancer Centre's long-term follow-up programme, and also very proud that he feels connected and motivated to help other young patients like him, in some small way, in the future.”

Daniel Nguyen (Year 12)

Vocational Major (Senior) Student Profile

Daniel is a young man with a passion for automotives and a ‘drive’ that will undoubtedly lead him to great success. In Year 11, Daniel chose the Vocational Major and was one of the first in his cohort to secure a work placement. Demonstrating initiative, Daniel ‘cold called’ Emotive Auto Detailing and, after informing the owner, Fabian Stellato, that he was a Mazenod student, he was given the opportunity to begin a one-day-a-week placement. Fabian, who completed Year 12 in 2019, saw this as a chance to give back to the College he loved.

After successfully completing his degree in Business and Marketing, Fabian realized his ambition of owning his own business, Emotive Auto Detailing. The early days of establishing a business are always challenging, but as a testament to his incredible work ethic, Fabian worked in a pharmacy to supplement his cash flow. Now, after two years, Fabian’s business is thriving.

Daniel also possesses the enthusiasm and commitment to become a successful businessman. His dream is to one day run his own mechanic’s workshop with an attached car detailing business. During his time with Fabian, Daniel has learned the finer points of both exterior detailing and deep interior cleaning. When asked about the most impressive car he had worked on, Daniel found it difficult to choose, having detailed many top-end Mercedes and BMWs.

On Wednesdays, Daniel hones his hands-on mechanical skills in his Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation course at Chisholm TAFE in Dandenong. These two experiences—work placement and hands-on learning at TAFE—are certainly preparing Daniel for a future apprenticeship. In fact, Daniel is already putting his skills to good use, running a small business with a fellow Year 12 student, detailing cars on weekends and after school.

Mazenod sincerely thanks Fabian at Emotive Auto Detailing for the mentoring and advice he has provided to Daniel. The VCE Vocational Major program would not be as successful as it is without the assistance of employers who are willing to give our young men experience in the industries they wish to pursue.

Year 9 Surf Camp

Our Year 9 students have been making waves at YCW Beach, Phillip Island, as part of their Surf Camp experience.

From learning the basics on the sand to catching their first waves, students embraced the challenge and had an unforgettable time in the water.Guided by experienced instructors, they developed new skills, built confidence, and enjoyed the incredible coastal environment.

A fantastic week of sun, surf, and adventure! 🌊🏄‍♂️
