Strategic Plan 2025-2030: Inspiring. Empowering.

Our Strategic Plan is built on two foundational pillars: Inspiration and Empowerment. They are the driving force behind our commitment to creating a positive and impactful environment for students and staff. We are committed to providing a holistic education for your son and we place a strong emphasis on Visible Wellbeing and Visible Learning. We had traditional Parent Information Evenings for Year 7 and 11 where we shared information about how these are intertwined to provide the best possible support for your son. We also had a Year 9 and Year 10 parent night where Dr Tessa Opie from In Your Skin delivered appropriate age messagesOn Tuesday February 25 the Year 8 Time and Space evening will be held and I encourage all fathers and male mentors to be in attendance with your son. I often observe professional interpersonal relationships between the teachers and your sons and how they show warmth towards one another. Hopefully this provides a safe, inclusive and warm school environment where your son experiences a sense of belonging and connectedness.

The Pastoral Leader will form your main point of contact at the College. We hope that your son develops a good working relationship with his Pastoral Leader and feels free to discuss school or personal matters if the need arises. Don’t forget - a problem shared in confidence with your Pastoral Leader may be quickly resolved and have him back enjoying success at school. Equally, your subject teachers can help you with your learning and advise you on many other matters throughout the year. It is especially important to talk to your teachers if you sense that life at school is not as peaceful, enjoyable or as successful as it should be.

Your son should approach his Year Level Leader or Assistant if he feels the need for extra advice. It is possible to talk to them about more serious or sensitive matters that need to be settled. It’s important that your son feels comfortable enough to inform them on matters which may affect his performance at school.

The Mazenod College Counselling Service is also available within usual school operating hours. Parents or students may wish to discuss the possibility of counselling support by contacting our College Psychologists via email counsellors@mazenod.vic.edu.au.

Day of Excellence Assembly

We gathered for a special kind of celebration of the excellent achievements of the Year 12 class of 2024. We looked back and celebrated achievements and looked forward to the future and wished the graduating class well for their on-going journey.

We urge the graduating class to be proud Mazenodians as they go out to make their contribution to society, as thousands of Old Collegians have done in so many ways in all walks of life. As they move off to continue their life journey, may they continue to grow in all dimensions – mind, heart and soul. We take inspiration from Luke’s Gospel Chapter 12: “To whom much has been given, much will be required.” Because, all education, especially a Mazenod education, is not just for you, it is also something for the world – to be used for and shared with others. On behalf of the whole College community, we say – congratulations, go well and all the best.

House Athletics Carnival

Thank you to the Mazenod Sports Department and all staff who organised a very successful House Athletics Carnival on Friday February 7. This was a wonderful community event – congratulations to all students who entered into the spirit of the day. Congratulations to Chisholm House who were the overall champions.

VCE Drama Solo

Congratulations to Liam Grima, who has been selected to perform his Drama solo, "The Lorax", at Top Class Drama 2025 at Melbourne Recital Centre. Top Class is an annual concert series presented by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) showcasing outstanding performances by VCE and VCE VET students from schools across the state. This year, 52 top performing students were invited to audition for Top Class Drama, and only 19 students were selected to perform. Selected performers exemplify the skill and creativity that can be achieved within the VCE curriculum.

Inaugural Mass

A reminder that the opening College Inaugural Mass will be held on Friday 21st February at St Patrick’s Cathedral. This is the 25th Anniversary of the Inaugural Mass being held at the Cathedral. Our tradition of inducting the College Student Leaders on this auspicious occasion continues and we encourage all in our community to be in attendance. Please access further information on MAZCOM regarding travel arrangements.

All the best,
