Why did you decide to become a Teacher?
In my undergraduate degree of Exercise and Sports Science, I completed a Strength and Conditioning placement in a school. As I assisted the Health and PE teachers set up classes and run fitness sessions my interest in teaching was piqued! I loved the relationships I built with students and teachers and I knew then that it was a career I wanted to pursue.
How long have you been a Teacher?
I am at the very start of my teaching game, currently finishing my Master of Teaching.
What was your last place of employment - school/university or another organisation?
Mullauna Secondary College is my first teaching job. I completed placements in Ballarat and at Mullauna Secondary College in 2024, and was stoked to be invited back for 2025!
What do you love most about being a Teacher?
I love everything sports and physical education, and love seeing students participate in sports they have never attempted. Seeing students ‘have a crack’ and get involved, and watching their confidence grow is what I enjoy about teaching.
What has been one of your best teaching moments?
In my very young teaching career, getting through my first solo lesson is my best teaching moment. Before that, I had always been accompanied by a mentor teacher or supervisor, and so I felt accomplished having run a class from start to finish, all by myself.
What would be 3 things that you would like the students to know about you
Where is your favourite holiday destination?
Noosa
What TV show/series did you last binge watch?
Suits and Yellowstone
What is the one piece of ‘advice’ or the one thing that you always say to your students?
There is nothing embarrassing about participating, and nothing wrong with making mistakes – I just want to see you try!
Thank you James, and welcome to Mullauna College.
