Why did you decide to become a Teacher?
I absolutely loved my high school experience and had awesome, supportive teachers who I wanted to follow the footsteps of. I have always loved helping people achieve their goals and value the life skills that are taught in my subject – Food Studies.
How long have you been in the teaching game?
This is my first year of teaching!
What was your last place of employment - school/university or another organisation?
I studied at Deakin University and was previously working at Presbyterian Ladies College in the Learning Enhancement Department.
What do you love most about teaching?
I love watching students grow in learning new skills in the kitchen and in theory. I love the creativity that comes with practical food classes. I also love collaborating with colleagues and learning from more experienced teachers.
What has been one of your best teaching moments?
Watching students enter the kitchen at year 7, with little confidence and seeing them grow and become more confident in their abilities and their creations is very rewarding.
What would be 3 things that you would like the students to know about you
Where is your favourite holiday destination?
Vietnam
What TV show/series did you last binge watch?
Squid Games, Season 2.
If you could wear Harry’s invisibility cloak for one day, where would you go and what would you do? That’s Harry Potter’s cloak not Harry Ruff’s cloak 😊
I would use Harry’s Cloak to get on an aeroplane and head overseas!
What is the one piece of ‘advice’ or the one thing that you always say to your students?
Ask for help when you need to.
Thank you Tess, and welcome to Mullauna College.
