Level 3 & 4 Wonga Weekly
Week 4, Term 1
📚READING
To complement our CBL topic of ‘Connections,’ we will be analysing a variety of different non-fiction text types about diversity and inclusion. We will look at the structure of the text, considering the purpose, context and audience.
At home you might like to look at a variety of non-fiction text types and discuss the purpose of the text and who the audience might be.
✍️ WRITING
Students are embarking on an exciting journey into persuasive writing! They will be focusing on the structure including the introduction, argument and conclusion paragraphs. They will practice organising their ideas logically to build compelling arguments. Students will explore various persuasive techniques learning strong, confident language to persuade their readers.
At home you might like to encourage your child to respectfully make persuasive arguments for things they would like, for example a later bedtime.
➕ MATHS
This week, students will continue their investigations into the place value of numbers up to and beyond hundreds of thousands. Students will have experiences with naming, rearranging and ordering numbers.
At home you may like to notice big numbers in their environment and try to name them.
🌿WELLBEING
Students will be participating in Respectful Relationship lessons based on personal and cultural strengths.
In SWPBS our level focus is lining up safely and walking respectfully around the school between lessons.
In Cyber Safety we will be empowering students to protect their online privacy and personal information that identifies them. Students will learn the skills required to create safer online environments.
🎗️REMINDERS
-Please ensure your child brings their fully charged iPad to school every day.
-We would like students to have headphones at school in preparation for Grade Three Naplan and online spelling assessments.
End of day routine:
-The end of day bell is at 3:30pm for all students (there are no staggered departure times)
-Students are working towards developing independence in cleaning up their space before leaving the classroom. There is an expectation that all tables, lockers and the floor are clean and iPads are stored safely in their bags before leaving the classroom. We ensure that there is adequate time for this, starting clean up ten minutes before the bell.
-We are working towards developing end of day etiquette, encouraging children to say good afternoon to their peers and teacher before leaving the classroom in an orderly fashion.
-Students are expected to be picked up at Lantana Drive (near the oval) unless they have a younger sibling in Prep-Two.

Dear Parents and Carers,
We greatly appreciate the valuable contributions of our volunteers in supporting our school community. As part of our commitment to child safety, all volunteers must complete annual Child Safe Training before working with students. This requirement applies to all volunteers, including those assisting in programs such as:
· Afterschool Basketball (coaching/team management)
· Art room support
· School events (e.g., Cross Country, Athletics, excursions)
· Other classroom or extracurricular activities
If you are considering volunteering in any capacity, please ensure your training is up to date. If you are unsure of your current training status, please check with the staff member who has invited you to support the program or event.
Additionally, if you volunteer at another Department of Education school, please note that training must also be completed at the school where you volunteer.
