PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
The Moorabbin Primary School Community touch the land and think of the Bunurong People and surrounding Clans of the Kulin Nation who cared for the land before us.
We share our gratitude to their Elders past, present and emerging. As we touch this land, we promise to treasure it, taking care of all its people, animals, plants and waterways. We at Moorabbin Primary School appreciate this land. Thank you.
Dear Parents/Carers,
Happy Chinese New Year!
It was fantastic to see Mr Fang and our LOTE leaders welcome in the new year with the annual “touch the lion” for good luck on Tuesday morning. A wonderful event that Mr Fang puts on for our community.
BABY NEWS FOR MRS TAYLA FEREN
We found out over the weekend that Mrs Tayla Feren and her husband had the arrival of their beautiful baby boy “Knox”! Mrs Feren was a couple of weeks overdue, what a lovely surprise to finally hear the great news that everyone was safe, healthy and well. We wish Mrs Feren and Knox all the best for the year ahead as she watches him go through the milestones in 2025!
STUDENT LEADERSHIP BADGES AND ASSEMBLY
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend a very warm and windy Thursday morning, where we held our first assembly. We began the assembly with Jaeden Williams. He was so engaging, charismatic and a proud member of the Boonwurrung people. He led us with a Welcome to Country and a smoking ceremony, taught us some greetings and affirmations for the land that we stand and work on.
Congratulations to our student leadership group. We look forward to the year ahead and the many responsibilities and tasks that you will complete as part of the student leadership group for our students and community. Well done to all.
MEET N’ GREET THE TEACHER
Thank you to all the families and staff for making time to meet with your child’s teacher and share crucial information about your child. Our teachers have noted how valuable and important this time was and so many positive conversations were had. The meetings are such an important part of the school home partnership to help support our understanding of each individual child as a learner of our community.
WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECKS (WWCC)
We encourage and value parental and community support at MPS. There are many ways that parents, grandparents and friends can assist at our school. We encourage all parents to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) which will allow you to be very involved in your child’s education. Without one you cannot be a classroom helper or attend an excursion.
These checks are free for volunteers. Please ensure you nominate MPS as a place you volunteer. Once you have your WWCC please come to the office so we can photocopy this, and we will add your name to our list of parents who have a current WWCC.
Our parent helps program will start in Term 2, look out for timetables and a place to sign up for a helper in your child's classroom.
MOBILE PHONES AND SMART WATCHES
All students are required to turn off and hand in mobile phones and Smart watches at the office to prevent usage during school hours. Students are not to use smart watches or Smart watches where the call and messaging function can connect to the student’s phone. Devices need to be handed in to the office at the start of the day and collected at the end of the day.
