Focus on Science

Scintillating Science in 2025!

Welcome back to another exciting year of science learning! The first week in the Science Room has been all about setting up expectations and reinforcing our school's SWPBS (School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support) framework to create a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment.

Students have started the year by setting up their science journals, colouring in their 2025 front covers, and personalising their scientist drawing. In our effort to be sustainable, students are reusing their journals from last year, gluing their new cover page where they left off. Our Foundation students, who are new to science, have received special science folders to keep their work organized throughout the year.

This term, we have an exciting line-up of topics in Chemical and Biological Sciences.

🧪 Foundation, Grade 2, Grade 4, & Grade 6 – Chemical Science

  • Foundation and Grade 2 students will explore the properties of materials and how they can be used in everyday life.
  • Grade 4 and Grade 6 will dive into states of matter, investigating solids, liquids, and gases through hands-on experiments.

🌱 Grade 1, Grade 3, and Grade 5 – Biological Science

  • Grade 1 and Grade 3 will explore living things, learning about what makes something alive and how different organisms grow and change.
  • Grade 5 will take a closer look at adaptations, discovering how animals and plants have evolved to survive in their environments.

It’s been a fantastic start to the year, and we are looking forward to a term full of curiosity, discovery, and hands-on learning in the Science Room!
