Wattle Wins House Swimming!
Congratulations to all students who competed at the recent house swimming carnival. Despite the forecast of extreme weather that brought upon a vast number of challenges, a reduced group of students did a fantastic job of supporting each other to compete to the best of their ability and get involved and earn points for their house. Additionally, some long-standing records were broken and new age champions announced. Our age champions are the students who earned the most points for their house in the individual pool events.
Congratulations to our 2025 Age Champions:
13 years: Annis Wu & Tommy Zhao
14 years: Gabriela Castillo Del Campo & Titus Wu
15 years: Sienna Dias & Adam Ng
16 years: Natalie Smalec & Thomas Dobson
17 years: Evan Dobson
20 years: Dylan Lam
Congratulations to Wattle House for winning the 2025 House Swimming Carnival with 213 points.

Senior Boys Table Tennis
Congratulations to the senior boys who represented Brentwood this week at the Monash Division competition. With 3 schools entering an A and a B team, we ended up playing a round robin followed by a semi final and grand final. Brentwood’s A team lost to JMSS in the first round 2-4 and defeated Wellington in the second round 6-0. The Brentwood B team defeated Wellington B 5-1 and lost to JMSS 2-4. This placed both teams into the semi finals to play off for a place in the grand final, and yes both the A and B team won their semi final and both played JMSS in the grand final matches.
Brentwood’s A team played a much closer match in the grand final with only 3 points separating JMSS and Brentwood. After we tied on sets 3-3, JMSS had one extra game 7-6 and 3 extra points 122-119 to place our A team second for the day. Our B team also had a rematch with JMSS in the grand final and were defeated 0-6. The growth of both teams throughout the competition was fantastic!
Team Members:
A team: Ali Mohammadali, Khnag Thai, Jake Dong, Antonios Plokamakis
B team: Adnan Rezvani, Jarrod Si, Ken Xie, Lawrence Zhang, William Zheng
Well done team!

Senior Boys Volleyball
Both A and B teams had some cracking games, tense third tiebreaks and combined together for a great day. Boys conducted themselves admirably, played in great sportsmanship and were a pleasure to coach.
A team highlights were many but included leading Volleyball powerhouse Wellington and causing them to "call their first timeout in 5 years," as one player said! B team's only losses were 3 set "nail biters."
Specific highlights and individual player "shout outs" included:
A team 1 win, 3 losses, lead by inspirational captain Jonathon Lagaaia, MVP was Peter Le for his super skills and Best Team Player was Sam Bower for bringing the energy!
B team 2 wins and 2 losses and Lawrence Zhang was a great leader as Captain with MVP being Jason Chen who barely missed a dig or set all day.
Best Team Player was Shreyaj Guha who definitely lifted team morale!
Thanks to Kaif Sura and Omar Rahami for assisting with coaching and equipment duties.

House Swimming Carnival
Our House Swimming Carnival was held on Tuesday 4th February at Monash Aquatic Centre. Despite the heat, students who signed up for an event were still able to participate and swim In their events and earn points for their house. Students made their own way to the pool in the morning and the day kicked off with an amazing start beginning with the 50m Freestyle races. The day went smoothly with some amazing results and it could not be done without the help from some amazing teachers who supervised and ran the event.
Special thanks to the Directors of Sport Mr Louey and Mr Bouios who did an amazing job organizing the event. It was great to see several students from each year level competing in their respective events, earning house points for their houses. Special mentions to Annis Wu, Year 7 who broke the age group school record for the 50m Freestyle & 50m Breaststroke as well as Titus Wu, Year 9 who broke the age group school record for the 200m Individual Medley. The day finished off with some freestyle relays for fun and some extra house points!. Congratulations to Wattle house earning the most amount of points on the day with 213, Jacaranda coming in for a close second with 210, Waratah 3rd for 183 and Banksia last with 75 points. The year has just started and it is exciting to see how the leaderboards will change throughout the year!
Thank you!
Your Senior Sports Captains, Maddie, Kanta, Will
PE Footwear Reminder
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This is a reminder that students should be wearing appropriate footwear to PE classes. Students should be wearing sports runners with adequate grip on the bottom of their shoes. PE classes are completed on a wide range of surfaces including, but not limited to, gym floor, asphalt and grass, also in a variety of weather conditions.
Shoes should be worn that allow students to participate safely across all terrain. PE staff make decisions on a daily basis, whether it is safe to complete classes, students need to wear shoes that are appropriate for all scenarios. If shoes are deemed inappropriate, students may be unable to participate. Students should not be wearing street or lifestyle runners to class as these shoes do not provide adequate grip and support.
Please see below images for shoes that are appropriate for PE classes and those that are not appropriate for PE classes.
Kind regards,
Meg Wrench Joseph
Head of Health and Physical Education
PE uniform reminders:
Below are some PE uniform reminders:
- Years 7 – 9 may wear their PE uniform all day on days in which they have PE. This is made known to students by having GYM1, GYM2, GYM3 etc. for their “room” location. On days where students have Health, they are required to be in their academic uniform.
- Year 10 students may only wear PE uniform if they are completing either PE elective (Enhanced PE or Sports Science) on the days their teacher has selected for them to complete their practical classes for the week. Students will be given uniform pass cards from their teacher which will list what days these practical classes are on. Students are to carry these card at all times. If a student is in PE uniform on a day that a practical class is not on or cannot present their card then they will receive a uniform chronicle.
- Year 11 and 12 students are to change into and out of their PE uniforms for periods that they have a practical class. If students have PE in period 1 they are allowed to come to school in their PE uniform and will change at the end of this period. If students have PE in period 5 they will need to change at lunch time and are permitted to leave school in their PE uniforms. If students have practical classes in period 2, 3 or 4 then they must be changing in and out of their uniforms during that classtime. If a year 11 or year 12 student comes to class in their PE uniform and they do not have a practical class in that period then they will receive a uniform chronicle.

Competition Sports Uniform
With interschool sport competitions, some teams must wear sports tops with numbers and special-coloured sports socks. Brentwood provides these tops and socks. However, sometimes students wear these tops/socks home instead of handing them back to the teacher in charge at the end of the day. So, as you spring clean or change your bedroom layout during the term break, keep an eye out for any missing Brentwood Sport Specialised team uniforms. So, drop them off to the main office or the PE staffroom when you return. No questions asked!
We are hoping for Brentwood AFL jumpers, Soccer/Hockey/Volleyball/Basketball numbered tops, and navy long socks to be found and returned!
