Dear St Michael’s School families,
A Prayer for Forgiveness
Dear Lord,
Thank You for Your endless love and mercy.
We come before You with humble hearts,
asking for the strength to forgive as You forgive us.
Help us to let go of anger and resentment,
replacing them with kindness and understanding.
Teach us to seek peace, to mend broken friendships,
and to show grace to those who have wronged us.
May our hearts be filled with compassion,
and may our words and actions reflect Your love.
Guide us to build a school community rooted in respect, patience, and forgiveness.
Amen.
ST MICHAEL'S HOLY WEEK & EASTER MASS TIMES
Below are the times for the Holy Week and Easter liturgies which will take place at St Michael's Church over the season. I strongly encourage you to try to take your children to some of these liturgies, as a way of helping them understand our traditions, especially at this essential time of the church year.
As Easter Sunday is taking place two days before our return to Term Two, our school prayers will occur at the following times:
- Wednesday 23 April, 8.50am, whole school in the hub
- Classrooms, students will pray Easter prayers with their classroom teacher each morning
- Thursday 24 April, 2.30pm in the hub (ANZAC prayer service)
THANK YOU MISS ANN
We wish to thank Miss Ann for her wonderful contribution to Year Three/Four G this term, and indeed her amazing work with our children in the time she has been at St Michael's School. We wish Ann all the very best for her leave, that she finds the rest and relaxation she deserves and enjoys the time with her family. We look forward to her return in the new year. Thank you Ann for everything! You truly are an amazing teacher!!
STAFFING UPDATE
We have been busily recruiting for staff who are going on parental leave and those taking long service leave in Term Two. Just so that families are aware, the following staff will commence in their assigned positions:
Ms Katelyn Struthers - Replacing Rachael Lampe for Long Service Leave for Term Two.
Miss Kate van Sebille - Replacing Jess Casey for Long Service Leave from Monday 12th May
Mrs Chloe Lawlor - Student Wellbeing Leader replacing Emma Quinless for parental leave from the week commencing Monday 19th May.
Chloe will also be undertaking the Learning Diversity Leadership role to replace Sam Isaacson in Term 3.
We continue our search for a Performing Arts Teacher and parents will be notified as soon as this happens.
All new staff will undergo an induction process and spend some time with current staff in these positions to gain an insight into their roles. We welcome them to St Michael's School and wish them all the very best in their time here.
ST MICHAEL'S SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM
Did you know we now have a holiday program onsite, organised by TheirCare, our Out of Hours Care provider? They have set up some amazing programs for children over these school holidays. Check it out here and make sure you book in!
EASTER EGGS
It's a delight to share Easter Eggs with our children at this time of the year. At St Michael's School we enjoy providing a small Easter surprise for the students, however as Easter is quite late this year and is not actually here for another two weeks, we will hold over this tradition until we return to Term Two.
SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION
Last week, our Year Three students participated in the beautiful Sacrament of Reconciliation. It was heartwarming to see families come together in prayer, supporting their children as they took this important step in their faith journey with Father Darien. This Sacrament holds profound significance in today's world, reminding us of the power of reflection, forgiveness, and reconciliation—values that are often challenging, yet essential, for individuals and leaders alike.
Thank you to Ray Hickey, our Religious Education Leader, and the Year Three/Four staff, Des Harding, Lou Hedley, James McIlroy, Rachael Lo Ricco and Ann Lagreca for their work in preparing the children and for being present at the Sacrament as well.
Furthermore, we thank our families for your support of your children in the preparation for Reconciliation. Preparing students to receive sacraments requires a strong home, school and parish partnership. We are most grateful to our families for your ongoing support.
TERM TWO COMMENCEMENT
A reminder that the first day of Term Two (Tuesday 22nd April) will be a closure day for the students as we will be holding a professional learning day for the staff. Students will commence classes on Wednesday 23rd April. A reminder also that Friday 25th April is ANZAC day, a public holiday for everyone.
