Hello Foundation Families,
What an amazing first term Foundation has had! Students have settled in to school and made excellent progress on reading and writing and maths. To celebrate the end of term, this week we have enjoyed themed days in Foundation.
On Monday we had Minecraft day. In Literacy, students used the five-finger retell strategy to identify the characters, setting, beginning, middle and end of a Minecraft text. They also created their own Minecraft map in Maths by rolling a die and colouring that amount of squares.
Tuesday was animal day. Students practiced sequencing the events of a story in order, practised counting animals and writing numerals.
Wednesday was community shop day where we continued our Guided Inquiry topic. Students were introduced to coins and used their play based learning session to make different community shops and role-play purchasing items and spending money.
Thursday and Friday we worked on some Term Reflection and Easter activities. It's been great to see students growth in their first Term of School! We're excited to explore new topics in Term 2.
Kind Regards,
Tegan, Emma and Ash
