Inquiry Centre

Highlight
It has been a fantastic term in the Inquiry Centre and we are very proud of the learning and growth shown by the 1/2 students.
In Phonics this week, we learnt all about suffixes and how they are parts added onto the end of words to change the meaning e.g. help+ful = helpful, kind + ness. We also explored the rule about when we add a suffix that starts with a vowel to a word ending with y, we change it to an i e.g. carry + ed = carried, friendly + est = friendliest.
In Maths, we explored money and practised recognising, ordering and counting small collections of Australian coins. Students loved pretending to purchase Pleasant Snacks and playing shops to consolidate their understanding. We also enjoyed reviewing 2D shapes by making our Easter Parade Hats.
In Guided Inquiry, we celebrated the end of our unit by reflecting on all that we have learnt about community. You might have seen some of the amazing trioramas come home or be posted on Seesaw. Thank you to families who have engaged with Seesaw and left comments on their child's work!
Thank you to Joe Millar for making wooden door stops for our 1/2 classes to keep our classroom doors open. Your effort is very much appreciated!
We hope you all have a lovely break over Easter and we look forward to seeing you in a few weeks, ready for Production!
Enjoy your weekend!

Reminders
- Information about costumes for Production have been posted on Compass
- Whilst Pokemon cards are a lot of fun, we are asking that these cards only be bought to school on a Friday when Pokémon club is on.
- We are asking for students to leave small toys at home as some of the toys that have recently been brought to school are going missing which of course brings great disappointment.
- Hats are compulsory so please make sure your child has a hat at school.
- Students are growing and at times very hungry! They are encouraged to bring some fruit/vegetables to have during a fruit break mid-morning.
